We also need to get a grip of the thinking we can't get managers in because we are poor old Everton.

We pay good wages to managers, at one point paying someone in the top 10 in Europe (i believe it was).

Isn't it quite rare for a new owner to come in and immediately replace a manager? Even Venky's gave Allardyce a month. When you consider Moshiri hasn't even completed a takeover yet it would be an uncommon move to sack Martinez.

Roberto's under-performed this season, no doubt. After three seasons and six transfer windows that have been relatively well financed any 'transition' excuses are weak. Still, I'd be surprised (unless we continue to sink this season) if he wasn't backed this summer. I expect us to start the 16-17 season with him still in a job, although without a significant improvement in results I can't see him still being here in a year.

When we lose Saturday the seasons over.

Get a caretaker and a good defensive coach in until the end of the season to undo all the damage Martinez has done

Not as easy as it sounds getting a good Caretaker and good defensive coach in, especially this close to the end of the season, also think the board would probably go down the route of appointing someone already at the club as caretaker manager.

It's all if's and buts anyway, because Martinez is going nowhere in my opinion.

Liverpool got Klopp to go to them by paying him enough money mate. Plenty of managers available who could do a better job than Martinez if we pay them a little more.

Not too long ago, Bilic was banded about as a replacement....he is touching distance of 3rd in the league with west bloody ham.

Hughes for 2 years has out performed Martinez, and even matched his record blow for blow.

Koeman sold half the squad and out performs martinez for 2 years despite martinez actually not selling his team.

Games swing against us in 2 weeks, two teams who weren't even in the division 12 months ago could be over us.

Genuine question here mate, if Roberto had not won the F.A cup with wigan, would you still strongly support him? None of this well he did win it nonsense, what if he took wigan down, no fan fare or anything, no cups, just took them down playing nice football with a poor defence, before he arrived here. Would you strongly back him still despite the team playing exactly the same way and almost ending up with the same results?

I don't like to go off topic and talk about another poster but his opinion is not going to change. Asking him hypotheticals won't change his view, if we lose our next three matches four nil, fail to win another match until the end of the season, finish seventeenth, Martinez publicly turns on the fans, it doesn't matter. If we are sat 14th in league at Christmas, it won't change.

Bar him relegating the club, the posters not for turning.

I know mate, it is just nice to bounce of his thoughts though being so polar opposite of my own, in a no right or wrong scenario i is interesting to get the other side to my own thoughts lol

My question with dave though is what if we sacked martinez, got a different man in, who took the SAME team, no additions at all, and led us to say 4th in the league. Would he still hold opinion so strong when a change of manager is proven to be the right course of action?

Good post mate, do you have anyone in mind then in your opinion who could continue the work Bobby has done ( but add some defensive steel to proceedings ) it do you think it's Martinez or no one.
Mate, people want a defensive minded dullard manager and to eke out a 1-0 win against the Stokes and West Ham's of this world. Who am I to suggest a replacement who can do what Martinez has done across the range of targets I mentioned?

I'll hazard a guess who Everton could possibly get and fall in the range of acceptability of the dissidents on this forum - if that's any good to you?

He'd be English, a manager who tells his players to 'get it in the mixer lad', he'd go parking the bus away from home - and at home once we scored (if we scored) - he'd scowl and scream at players and throw them under the bus when he alone is to blame for a defeat.

Who might that identikit boss be? Maybe a young Alardyce or a Sherwood...yes, Sherwood would be worshipped by some on here. A big blustering nobhead.

Exactly, and thats what could and would happen if we replaced coco

Can't see him being sacked to be honest but I can see him walking.
We don't sack managers unless we are in serious trouble so the most I can see happening in the summer is for him to given a new direction in to how the playing staff should be managed. If it's said to him that results have to improve even if that means losing some of the attacking flair he has brought then I don't think he'd go for it.

The problem is if Martinez walks/sacked after the next couple of games, who realistically is available now to replace him?

You can mention money, but which manager is going to leave, or be allowed to leave their club so close to the end of the season.
The only slight possibility that Martinez will be sacked after the next couple of games will be if we lose to Chelsea, by which point our season is over and we will have absolutely nothing to play for. No chance of Europe and no chance of relegation (thanks to the current bottom 4 clubs being so cut off). Therefore I don't think it's an issue or a worry who we get in to replace him until the end of the season. ANY caretaker boss for the last 2 months can see the season out.

During which time we can start to put the feelers out for a replacement with the promise of a good wage, a very competitive transfer budget, and (thanks to Martinez) a very talented young team. Martinez may have started this project but I'm sure we could get a 'name' in to take it forward from June onwards.

Im always behind the team and want them to win. I want them to smash Chelsea on Sat. My prediction is us 2 up at 69 minutes and still going for a 3rd, 4th,5th and even a 6th goal whilst being knackered, bobs call .... kone/niasse on defender or lukaku off = predictable martinez, Chelsea aerial bombardment 3 or 4 goals in 3 or 4 minutes .... I wonder when we will see the first sign with a picture of coco on it " football genius"

Oh I completely agree. Just saying it because of the conversation about a replacement.

I don't think having someone lined up is all that urgent. Although I'd be surprised if a few haven't been discussed already. These guys have an investment to protect. For now we're safe and we wont make European places so we have time to find the right one. But you want to advertise the position as soon as possible.

Not sure thats quite the case mate, think thats stretching it just a tad - but someone who can mix it up a bit would be better. Cant think of one British manager i would want to manage the club.

And jib sherwood off right now the massive gimp. Couldn't bear him.

What do you reckon on De Boer or Emery?

A lot depends on the new owner and how serious he is for investment. I see little point in changing "like for like" but I do wonder if someone like De Boer could be our Pochetino.

Unless this season collapses I can't see him going but there will rightly be some serious questions. I think we are playing quite well though. Yesterday was utter stupidity from Martinez but we can't lose site of the fact we would have won that game had we had 11. I can see us picking up 20+ points which I imagine would see us in the top 8.
Ironically mate, De Boer is accused by his many critics for playing the ball around to exhaustion looking for openings.

I refuse to put a name forward on my own behalf, because a) it's not happening, and b ) there is no one out there who is best suited to us and our needs.
