I agree totally, if indeed he does take the team on Saturday it will be difficult for all. I think the situation is incredibly fluid at present and it would not surprise in the slightest if he was not here Saturday. I say that in line with my previous comments.

If Pellegrini is the replacement, it's entirely possible that he has insisted it be kept under wraps until at least the end of City's European campaign. If RM was sacked and a caretaker put in place, the Press would pester the life out of all potential EFC managers and that is something Pellegrini definitely does NOT want on the eve of their most important games. He will not want to field questions about coming to us at such a vital time: maybe keeping RM in the job till the end of the season is part of this bigger picture?

I must admit, as the possibility of Manuel Pellegrini becoming our new manager appears to be more likely, I am rooting for City to win the Champions League. Imagine us getting the manager who has just won the Champions League??

Pellegrini has stated he'll make no announcements until after his CL campaign has concluded.

Suspect Pellegrini may get a few more attractive offers if he wins that, so hoping he doesn't.

Hi all! I am new obviously... I've been on the forum since Saturday for news of Roberto's sacking and I have to say @The Esk has kept me sane with his updates... I have to say I've had a good laugh and cry reading through what seems to be the longest thread on GOT and it's made me join up and share my input!

I have to say I was brutally disappointed to see Bobby at the presser today and was annoyed to hear him using the 9th budget in league excuse etc etc but I really can't see the board sending Martinez into Goodison on Saturday... it looks bad on them from our, the fans, point of view and they'd be essentially sending a lamb to the slaughter judging by the current mood of everyone attending on Sat, myself included...

The positive side of me keeps reassuring myself that the fact Martinez was at the u21s match with Leicester and the presser today is a little bit of keeping up appearances from the club until contractual issues are ironed out and finalised with Martínez and perhaps the new manager, who ever that may be... the negativEFC side of me is telling me there's some sort of internal dispute over this decision or something discomforting along those lines... saying that though, Moshiri is the shot caller essentially as major shareholder and as the major investor, but the way it's set up with the 49.9% stake etc is that board can overrule any decisions he makes (like sacking Martinez), by a vote, so if that's the case and it's went to a board decision then we can pretty much gaurentee it's going to be a majority decision to sack him or at least a 50/50 split with Ryazantsev (Moshiri's guy) and Woods (walked out of Anfield early) in favour of sacking and Kenwright and Elstone in favour of keeping him, if that is the case then Moshiri as chair has the final call and we all know what that will be... unless I've got it wrong here, if so someone correct me...

Either way I suppose, if Moshiri doesn't want him there and Bill and co do, and Moshiri says, "listen Bill and co... see that 100 million? Aye? Well you won't be seeing it unless brown shoes is gone by June at least"... what's Bill gonna choose? Martinez or investment?

I'm paraphrasing but

"It's a defining week, judge me on this week"

Week goes horrendously

"Judge me over all 3 seasons not just this week!"

If there was a job where a man was required to move goalposts for a living, Roberto would be the best in the biz. Can't wait to have my club back without having to listen to his incessant drivel.
We are judging him on 3 seasons, how the hell can he count the last two seasons as successful, he's trying to cling onto his job and it ain't going to happen.
