The season before Martinez took over at Wigan they finished 11th and had the seventh best defensive record in the prem, after Martinez was appointed these were his league finishes in the 4 seasons he was there:

16th, conceding 79 goals.
16th, conceding 61 goals.
15th, conceding 62 goals.
18th (relegated) conceding 73 goals.

Now I know some will say that was Wigan etc, but he is still playing the same tactical way now as he did at Wigan, but with better players, and a better squad than he had at Wigan, but those same tactics are still not working, but for some reason the man can't see this, and still spouts about it being the right way to play.
He's got a truly awful record in the Prem, 7 seasons, one good season and it's plain as day that was with a Moyes coached team, drilled and drilled into how to hold a shape and defend, once Martinez drilled his ways into the players we've had what we've had the last two seasons.

Roberto Mythinez.

Supposedly it's because he will have cash to spend in the summer (because he's never had money to spend) and will then become boss.

This is a myth. He has £16m (in average) net spend per season while Moyes had around £1.5m-£2m net spend per season and still done better in the league.

I get what you mean. What I want to show is Martinez did have resources available to him, unlike some poster said he had no money to spend and that is why we can't complete and languishing in 11th.

I think you'll find mate, that LouReed was being sarcastic.

Nah I was not refering to LouReed.

As @roydo said, when you look at Martinez over his 7 seasons in the prem, overall it doesn't make good reading.

But if you have taken 2 teams backwards (relegated one of them) after you took them over....................................

Then question the coaching...ask why we seemingly spend more time facing goal while we're defending than we do when we have the ball. Ask why when we move for the ball it's typically backwards and not forwards. Ask why we're gassed at 60 mins. Ask pertinent football questions of someone who talks of attacking football. Ask about these things, don't just light your head on fire and tell the manager to go f himself at the drop of a hat. Something's not right but it takes all sorts, not just a manager. Personally I think he's screwed because, really, he should be asking these questions of himself and his staff...we shouldn't have to.

davek called kenwright out for the bell he is before pretty much anyone, in fairness to him
he's exactly like him though, him and martinez. Wont accept he's wrong.

Also people have been 'against' kenwright for years, dave wasn't the first, he wont be the last.

It's bloody awful reading, he's had more than enough chances in this league to improve his methods and learn, as any top manager should, his methods may work if he had Messi, Suarez and Neymar banging in 120 goals a season in the Spanish league, but this is the Prem, and not one team in this league plays to score one more than you and to hell with the defending, only Mythinez does that.

...well given that you wont properly back up your assertion that we'll get a top class manager it probably is time for someone to answer a question or two.

Martinez has our best ever PL campaign without spending the hundreds of millions apparently coming the way of our new "top class" manager from this summer. Only a fool would doubt that he couldn't use that cash to great effect.

In a highly competitive transfer market he could attract as much as any of the dodgy top class managers on your list thus far. Koeman and De Boer have no pedigree in signing top end of the market players, yet you'd let either have the key to the manager's office at Goodison and Moshiri's bank account.

Next season Martinez should place more faith in even greater numbers of younger players coming in and use whatever cash he can muster to buy a top class replacement for Lukaku and and world class goal keeper - something we haven't had since Southall - and run out the club the likes of Baines and Jagielka.
Shameful thing to say, and yet you'll defend a manager who is happy to adhere to his flawed "philosophy" that is making Everton progressively worse. Genuine question who do you really support Everton or Martinez?

It's not that hard really, a good manager would be able to see that how he is setting us up to play isn't working, and that he needs to change it, but as he has said on numerous occasions, he doesn't see it as a problem, and it's still the right way to play in his opinion.
