You put the boot into Moyes - frequently - and he achieved more consistently than Martinez with a much lower net spend.

He's had investment and he's had time; he's a failure. That's not putting the boot in, that's just calling it as it is.
I supported Moyes for 7 seasons. Please don't place me in the kneejerkers category.

He had a net spend that was very much competitive with those in the PL up until the fire sale of 2009 by the way, so let's not having any nonsense about Moyes having less than Martinez proportionate to the PL as a whole.

A failure? Great. Well that suits me fine that definition because it'll back me up when I use that same definition about our future manager if he fails to get a CL spot quickly and/or fails to get anywhere near 72 points.

I can't wait.

Well yes, and that goes for Moshiri too by the way. I'm not impressed with him yet and why should I be? He's done nothing. If he pours cash in and gets results then he gets credit. That's the way it works. If he doesn't (or if he does and continues to accept failure on the pitch) then he should be chased back from whence he came.

I've got no hangover from Kenwright mate. I have higher standards than him and so did/does Martinez. Let's not conflate the two men and their outlooks. In my view Martinez demonstrated what he could do with a meagre number of quality players in that first season. Could he have transformed moshiris cash into a CL spot? We'll never know. But I respect the feller fully and have no time for anyone putting the boot into him....not that I'm saying you are.

My take on Martinez, he's a holiday fling mate, got out of a long and ultimately boring relationship and go abroad to clear your head, meet a nice bird and everything is dead exciting (the first season), start seeing her once you get back home regularly (season 2 and 3) then you realise that after the initial rush is over she was exciting just because she was so much different to the ex, but that isn't enough and once the excitement of the rebound is over - well your just left with a girl with a rapidly fading tan and a few decent memories of the girl you first thought she was when abroad.

as for Moshiri - give him a year before forming ANY negative judgement on the man, there is 20 years+ of damage all the way through this club he has to cut out and rebuild mate

This thread has become utterly toxic with gloating over their correct predictions...of Everton's failure.

He's not good enough, our defense has fallen to shambles in his time here, something that cannot be purely chalked up to age. We show serious naiveté regarding game management, and he's clearly lost the players.

That's a shame. It's too bad. It's kind of gross reading this thread though with the point scoring

I've been right for three years about him.

Sniff it.

They won't believe you mate. Not after hearing of the record breaking 72 point season, then us being the last English team to be knocked out of Europe, then the two semi finals!! That constant string of ludicrous achievement will blow their minds.
You could write the sleeve notes for the end of season DVD.

As said on Moshiri I won't give credit when it's not yet earned. That's not the same as criticising him in the first 12 months. But he too is under the microscope. Just because he has cash doesn't mean he'll make the right decisions. And if he screws up he won't have the favourable hinterland in the footy industry and media here for support to fall back on. He'll be alone and facing the questions if he doesn't get us success...and any manager he employs will be toast.

@roydo I can't reply to your post, I have given Martinez credit for the things he has done well. I even wrote them down once on the back of a stamp.

Jokes aside, I have complemented him on the non footballing side of things in the past such as his conduct, the way he won't let the media forget the size of our club and he's media friendly, which when things are/were going well is great, the way he handled to Stones issue. He has also built up a good squad, that is where the problems start.

Not a particularly positive outlook is it? You seem intent on having a pop at a new manager and looking forward to it because of the criticism you've received over your views on Martinez.

And then he'll unleash his nice billions on an excellent, likely London based PR firm to help drum up that support in the media for him.

I'm predicting a well-drafted media brief with words like "visionary", "decisive" and "no tolerance for the failures of El Fraudo"

Not sure I can agree with you Dave on the subject of players available to RM - meagre number of quality players. Quite a few brought in by RM.
