Everton win > Wembley secured

Some fan was saying on the radio if we had the positive of martinez and his phenomenal philosophies and the positive negativity of David Moyes we'd be sorted. Martinez first season built and improved on the defensive solidness we had. In the latter Moyes years, he simply lacked money to cover up his failings. There was good football played especially at Goodison towards the end.

If we lose in a depressing way on Saturday I want a Mourinho or Cocu hunted down fairly quickly. But I am hoping for a win because I believe Martinez can still be a huge success with 3/4 elite players.

Lol.

Believe me mate. Everton win > Wembley secured > fever broken.

It's as simple as that.

This post has got egg on the head written all over it.

So what if we get done on Saturday mate?

Our season will be effectively over, and the bones of our season will be picked over by Evertonians and the media alike....

What do you think they'll make of the 'achievements' of Martinez this season in that context?

Here's a scenario I've just made up (bit of fun, fume at it if you have to).

The Everton board are rocked by the 14/15 season. They have huge talents like Barkley and Stones and the premier league is finally in a state of open turmoil after Ferguson's resignation and Ciry keeping a big side out the top 4 every year. Despite this we are in a relegation battle and finish bottom half. Kenwright has watched Moyes control everything for 11 years on a low bet spend, now suddenly players aren't happy and are making it vocal, 30 mill was spent on a striker and we went backwards.

Kenwright being the man he is though decides to give Roberto the benefit of the doubt. The 15/16 season starts but the old habits creep in. There's fan discontent at the board that Roberto's failings are antagonising, there's fan discontent at the manager in unprecedented never before seen levels, we're still bottom half despite a number of new players coming in. The defence is getting worse and player unrest is in the air again.

Kenwright is watching all this in shock but is also working on the investment deal with Moshiri. Can he really hand over Everton to this new combo of manager and owner?

Not knowing what to do he puts in a phonecall to his best friend in football. They never stopped talking. 'David what do I do?'. Suddenly Moyes is available though. The job at Villa, turned down. West Ham, turned down. Swansea, turned down. Sunderland, turned down. Newcastle, turned down. Moyes openly admits though that he's turning down offers from Europe as he eyes a return to the premier league, but at what club? Baines Jags Mirallas are on the phone to him 'what's happened to our form gaffer'. And then in a few rare to interviews he starts dropping subtle references 'Everton would be a great club to go back to'.

Moshiri wants a manager popular with the fans to cement his new ownership and restore solid league form. He's no expert in managerial hiring from his time at Arsenal so leaves it to Bill.

He makes one final call on the last day of the 15/16 season after an embarassing finish of 13th. 'Please come home David', 'Aye Chairman'.

Think about it. Think about it. It could happen.
Lid?

Nothing will happen if we get knocked out. We'll be like 17 other teams in this league to have won nothing and one of about 15 without European football next season.

We'll fight for points until the seasons end and try and push top half, then we'll start again next season. Just like we've always done. No drama, no need for any major upheaval, just like the past. If the new owner puts his cash in and it gets spent to zero effect next season then he'll have a decision to make.

That's the agenda.

But hey, enough of that - we all want a victory on Saturday.....don't we?

The pre season before last, he'd had a great opening season, but instead of building on it he built his ego, chatting toss on world cup tv panels rather than overseeing pre season, while a kopite mural was put up in his honour, and Bill extended his contract after less than 12 months

Stop with the World Cup thing fgs. It had absoultely nothing to do with 'ego'. Pre-season should have been sorted in May... in fact it was, it was just a crap one.

RM having three weeks at the World Cup (during what was his time off... they are allowed that) is absolutely fine.

Oh and as a result of that we signed Besic at a snip.

How could he oversee pre-season with over half of the squad at the WC?

Stop using it as a stick to whack him with. Means absolutely nothing.

Sounds to me more like this is the storm....the one rattling round this tea forum tea cup.

This goes away at about 7.25pm Saturday, give or take a few minutes.

Then this lit go back in their caves.
We may win 5:3 and I will still be worried about us losing every single time we take the lead in, looking shaky in defence and during set pieces, inept substitutions and general mismanagement of the squad, as well as the league position/home form declining by the season.

It's not like everyone here is calling you a patronising two-hat Dave, but you are doing your best to sound like one with all the "back to their caves" drivel, almost as if it's not you versus the world (in that, it's literally you arguing non-existent points where you turn out wrong but close your eyes to most things... and everyone else doesn't).

So let me ask you again, just like 5 times in the last 3 days - what happens if we don't win this Saturday then? What will your excuse be for that loss?
