TBH, I think we need to see him gone now and air our intentions prior to the Norwich game.

We have a huge summer ahead of us, during which many of our players are in European competition. I have no doubt that at the final whistle of that match, all their attentions will turn to Internationals. We need to show a statement of intent to those players we risk losing BEFORE they go away with their national teams and get their heads turned, or agents acting for them. We need to give them something to come back for, now. Though I fear it may be too late.

May be, but it can become the norm for teams to sack managers and that only ends in disaster.

In the time we've had Martinez and Moyes Friend we've won zilch in 14 seasons. Is it 17 with Smith?

Other clubs have changed plenty in that time. Spurs, Chelsea, even the six on one hand mutants Leicester.

A new manager - who would only be removed due to failure, by the way - every three years for the sake of rolling the dice a bit? Sounds fine by me

Everyone saying why doesn't he just walk away, the simple fact is, who in their right mind would walk away from a few million of a pay out. I was on the fence until recently but I honestly don't mind waiting a week as long as he is packing his bags.

He represented the club brilliantly off the pitch (Hillsborough etc). Unfortunately on the pitch, it's a shambles.
Fair enough he wants the money so he can't complain when he takes the stick he derserves on Sunday then. All this nonsense about how nice he is and how well he's represented the club is irrelevant. He makes his living as a manager attempting (and failing) to get us wins in matches, not representing us as an ambassador. It comes to this, I'd actually like us to win our two final games, however little they may mean but I know we have zero chance of winning with Martinez at the helm and even if it's purely out of respect for the paying fans going on Wed and next Sun he should go now.

I agree he should been sacked long, long ago - especially if it's been the intention for a while to do so. Personally, any sympathy I have in this situation is reserved for us supporters rather than someone who to my mind has been stealing a dare I say 'incredible' living from us for around 18 months. I don't begrudge anyone making as much money as someone else is prepared to pay them. But I do ask myself why, if Martinez is so 'decent', does he only seem to care about the cash? If that's not the case - why does he stay and not resign?
I want him gone as much as the next man, but I don't blame him staying for a payout, we are talking millions, and he has a contract at the end of the day, this is also basically benitez's career strategy now, come in do crap, get sacked, get rich
