The fans at home haven't been blamed for RM's shortcomings, the only thing posters on here have accused them of is not always getting behind the team in some games where it might have helped lift the players.

I've never seen a poster claim the sole reason we lose at home is due to poor support, which is what you're implying.

No, I'm not implying anything. I'm openly saying it.

RM said the players don't perform at home, and the reason was he felt the fans made it uncomfortable for the players.

This sentiment was, in turn, echoed/amplified by certain posters on here; who have used it as an opportunity to excuse the shortcomings of RM's management & tactics, and point the finger elsewhere - when their other reasoning/excuses for poor form has been cross-examined and countered.

Fickle, and kneejerk aren't terms that have been used by the anti-martinez posters (Or 'plotters' as they're affectionately known). It wasn't the martinez out brigade blaming the fans, was it? Nor are the (main protagonists of the) pro-martinez openly lauding yesterday's support.

They'll be back in their droves with their 'fickles' and 'kneejerks' the second anyone complains about the next loss, though...

...which he assembled and coached.

I've never questioned his transfer record at Everton.

I will say he's coached that side to 12th in the league this season and 11th last season, so it's swings and roundabouts. There's no consistency.

All I'm asking for is consistency. There's no good having a night like that if he's going to have another shocker in the next round and cost us a game with his game management.

The squad is obviously good enough; I want to see him using it regularly.

Afternoon Dave. Sun is out, nice weekend and looking forward to the office on Monday.
Now then lets have a chat about something which has gone under the radar but you have picked up on in your post above.
Indeed Moshiri has committed to keep holding of our best players - this is very good news.
How will he go about that I wonder, Agents will present themselves at the end of the season to communicate their clients wishes for there future.
I suspect Money will not be the deciding factor in players staying on but IF Moshiri could keep his best players does he start a new project with a new coach - if that waht it takes? Players values will increase with time eg Rom, Ross, Del, Stones etc but not likewise with the current coach.
Those last couple of sentences are an astounding. The players' values are at this level now because of what this manager has done with them. He's added about another £120M on top of Barkley, Stones, Deulofeu and Lukaku alone.

As for the manager's alue: since arriving less than three seasons ago he's smashed through our PL points record and reached a couple of semi finals (with maybe more to come). This is Everton mate. We haven't won a balloon since 1995 and to judge Martinez more critically than his predecessors because he's successfully raised expectations is harsh in the extreme. Hs record so far is more than acceptable.

Let's just put this issue to bed: notions of a managerial change are all in the heads of a large(ish) group of desperately driven people and bear no resemblance to the reality on the ground. Martinez is aour manager and will be our manager this time next season.

I've said all season and right from the off that in a developmental season (which this is) a good season looks like this: extensive cup run plus good top half finish (with an ambition of 60 points). Obviously 60 points is very doubtful now, but a decent top half finish can still be secured, and I would argue that extensive runs in both domestic cups can make up for the failure to hit the 60 point mark.

There has to be a recalibration of the judgements of our season after last night. To keep on calling it a season where we underachieved is moronic.

It's not though, because we've underachieved. We're 12th FFS, how is that a success for a squad like this?

You could ask absolutely anyone at Everton and they'd say it's been a disappointing season themselves.

An Evertonian great speaks out...

The problem he [Martinez] has is, nine league wins out of 28 games is, in my opinion as an Evertonian, and with the quality of footballers he has at his disposal, is poor.

If I was asked in August if two semi finals and a top half finish would do me I'd have said yes
But a semi ,fa cup win ,top half finish ,new owner and the best young striker in the league?
