Lukaku doesnt care about FA Cups, he wants to showcase his talents, 12th place teams only showcase failure.

Rom keep saying CL footie which means we need to get 4th in the league. The player himself said 4th is what he cares not semi finals.

It seems Martinez trusts this Lawrence guy who doesn't understand what is the art of defence. Do we practice defending setpieces now?

Martinez has misguided loyalty to him

It's understandable. He's probably close friends with him along with everything else

Would you find it easy to sack a mate you've worked with for that amount of time? I know I'd struggle

But that being said, Martinez is on a lot of money managing a big club, and with big clubs come big decisions. If management was nothing but easy decisions, then everyone would do it (That's something we all need to remember regards to Martinez. You don't get where he is without being skilled, and he certainly has a lot of strengths in his locker. Sadly, the weaknesses are coming to the fore at the moment and threatening to bring everything tumbling down)

It's understandable that those who want Martinez out are striking while the iron is hot after another home defeat. They have a bizarre vested interest.

But it's sheer lunacy for others to think the terrain has changed for Martinez and his position here. He's under no more or less pressure for his job than in the past 18 months.

We've progressed very well in cups; away form is good; home form terrible. Standard of play very high for the bulk of the season and scoring more than we ever have in previous seasons. Wembley appearance on the way and possible cup final and trophy. Shorn of all the "I've given him a chance and I've had enough" posts from people who should know better, that's what those in control are coolly looking at.

The management crisis was there before the Chelsea game...then it was a thing of the past...now it's back after the Arsenal game. It cannot be taken seriously.

J'accuse those of a usually more temperate nature of being railroaded by the latest hysterical wave of over reaction.

Or for him to at least do something to show Lukaku that he's taking steps to improve the defending

Again, the minute he kicks his mate from Wigan to the curb and gets in a new defensive coach he makes a big statement of intent and shows strong leadership by making a tough decision. He shows that he can check his ego at the door, as well as cutting a long time colleague loose, for the benefit of the club

If I'm Lukaku, I see that and the possible promise of Moshiri opening the purse strings in Summer as a genuine reason to stick around, at least until January

Lukaku deserves to be in a top half team this season, and if we could defend he would be

Its not enough Mikey mate.

Lukaku is a clever lad and he has access to the changing room, which if the rumours are to believed is very fractured currently, it seems as tho they have all had enough, a 21 year old Lukaku had to go to his manager and tell him his tactics are wrong, the next week he changed Agents.

Wouldnt be surprised if the players all chip for spray paint to spray Martinez Out next week.

Enough is enough, get the utter failure out and get somebody that didnt get his coaching badges from the back of a packet of Corn Flakes.

Wigan, as a town, had absolutely no interest in a game played with a round ball. Their wages and funding were cut drastically but he left them with some parting gift. I can see, even now, that if we win the FA Cup, the Plotters will put it down to good luck. Amazing to think that will be the case but conceding a two miles offside goal in a magical extra minute would be just bad management. The hatred of Martinez is personal for some now, not based on logic.

...oh no mate, you're a mile off, it's not hatred by any stretch, he seems a truly personable chap. But the thing is, he's just not a very adept chap is he, his record in league competitions tells you this, there's no argument against it, it's all there...as is his own admission NOT to change his style of management. Now, to me, that's the sign of a HUGELY inept manager, not being able to address such faults and, more than that, not even seeing them in the first place...

Winning ANY trophy is proportionate to luck mate...league form is a combination of numerous factors, above all consistency, that's logical m'friend...and it's something he's never, ever been able to adhere to.

As I've stated, utterly worthlessly & hypothetically, you take ROM out the equation.......

...no, he gave him full backing to start next season and a chance to get it right. That's the point. There's nothing in your cut and paste story to give comfort to anyone seeking Martinez's dismissal.

Oh, and btw, there is no comparison between Martinez and Smith...who had us dancing on the trap door. That'll be the reason why Kenwright doesn' feel the need for a formal declaration of confidence.

so that in short is you saying no he didnt give him the full season then before sacking him - after a ringing endorsement - thanks.

Here's the thing Dave - you have put one man ahead of the good of the club you've supported all your life now, you cannot see past your blinkered view, i honestly couldn't say if you are just being a WUM now or truly believe what your typing, i don't myself support Martinez, or any manager or player i support Everton dave - i think you need to get back to that yourself as right now you seem to have put one man above the club

as for saying that people are now following the herd - grow up, stating people like esk are doing that makes you look incredibly petulant and very silly.

Comparisions between Smith and Martinez are flawed no doubt, one manager took us over when we where really poor and struggling and kept us really poor and struggling even more
One manager took us over when we where about level with spurs and 5-8th nearly every season with an occasional cup run thrown in, and now has us as a lower half of the table who are fodder for any team that turns up at Goodison but he has thrown us a cup run

So Kenwright tells the truth now does he Dave? Or do you still believe the man is fundamentally a liar? be interesting to see how you manage to spin that answer

Most of us who want him out have good reason to.

We don't want him out because he's Roberto Martinez.

We want him out because we are crap.

How can you look at the table and not think its time to take this seriously?

Well Dave, it might not mean "a solitary thing" to you but it meant a great deal to the almost 40,000 of us who went to watch that performance yesterday......there was much more "cluelessness" on display at The Park yesterday under the auspices of Roberto than was ever displayed on here in those halcyon days when the plotters were an irritating minority wearing metaphorical sandwich boards proclaiming "we are all doomed"

:(

Oh how we laughed at @ianefc and the boys then lol

We ain't laughing now, no sir
@davek @sageyefc @paulbefc @Prevenger17 @MoutsGoat @ilikecheese @Roberto's Dream

In the words of Bjorge Lillelien,

''Your boys took one hell of a beating''

Moshiri knows Martinez is not good enough. I hope he has his replacement lined up and acts quickly.
This sends out a huge statement of intent. The last two seasons have been terrible with a much improved squad.
I think the players dont want to play to his philosophy anymore, and I dont blame them as it clearly does not work, as evidenced by our league
place this year and last year.
After yesterday he is out of excuses

If Lukaku leaves and he doesn't get the new defensive coach, we'll be down excrement creak without a paddle

That alone should have you thinking why are we even thinking of sticking with a manager when yourself think that unless he has a defensive coach and a world class striker we are screwed mate, think about it for a minute - what other club would think like that?
