Actually don't think we would be hard pushed to get rid of Martinez if we win the cup, it'd be case of thanks, but we've decided we need to go in a different direction in terms or managing and coaching so we're terminating your contract with immediate effect.
It really is as simple as that. He would get a payoff and his CV would have two FA Cup wins on it... and we could move on and hopefully quickly improve under a new regime.

If he wins the cup he 100% wont be sacked, even if we finish 17th.

And you honestly expect this to occur any time soon? I wish it would, however I'd say it is bordering on fanciful to expect it to happen.

For whatever reason (which is another debate entirely), Martinez is either unable or unwilling to prioritise the improvement of our defence.

Furthermore, if he ever did see it as a paramount aspect in the change of our form then I sincerely believe he'd be unable to competently rectify it.

A leopard can't change its spots... it's simply not in his philosophy to play in a way whereby a solid defence can be realistically expected.

Exactly

This is why he needs that new defensive coach, and why I've been pushing for it for so long

This thread will be toxic if we lose against the RS and then the semi final a few days later.

I don't think I could take two defeats like that.

This is the only scenario I can think of where he could possibly be sacked, if the performances were diabolical to go along with the losses.

I think Moshiri's lack of response to Bill's talk of Martinez last Saturday was very telling.

Let's not forget, Moshiri has seen at close hand one of the finest and most advanced managers ever in Wenger - he will have very exacting standards and expectations.

Yeah he looked a tad uncomfortable when Bill started banging on about Martinez.

It wouldn't change a thing. He's the head of the philosophy - he simply believes that defence isn't a priority, and that if you attack well enough then the defence sorts itself out.

It's idealistic nonsense and a defensive coach wouldn't change a thing as his job would still be under the instruction of Martinez.

i believe that one of the points they conflicted with kroenke over was his blind backing of wenger also

He thinks he can win every game by outscoring the opposition which is a naive philosophy.

He'll want a return on his investment. He won't get that with Martinez at the helm

Genuinely think we will win the next three.

He suddenly starts to make sensible decisions when being properly scrutinised - as soon as he got a bit of respite after Chelsea he started saying all Swansea's recent progress was down to his good work being built on (ignoring Kenny Jackett, Chompers and Laudrup) and Wigan not coming back up after, er, he relegated them was all due to his 'good work' being wasted.

Takes all the plaudits and never the blame. Robmiko Walkinez.

Would this ever actually occur though? I doubt Martinez, who is notoriously stubborn and self-believing, would accept such an intervention.

And if a coach was eventually forced upon him then in the end the final approach and setup for each game would be ultimately down to him.

It may offer short term benefits such as defensive confidence and managing set plays, but we'd still be liable for suicide football from the back.

We'd also still play in the way that Martinez would desire. Personally, the problems run much deeper than requiring one new defensive coach.

I just couldn't imagine a scenario where we won a cup and sacked the manager within days/weeks of it.

View attachment 19793 Probably been put up before but says it all for me

It says it all for me too. The most telling bit is the use of the word BORING. The fraud has some how convinced a lot of people that his ridiculous brand of football is exciting, but it's not, it's boring, which is why the crowd are half asleep most of the time. It's exciting against the likes of Villa, as they are ripped apart by most teams, but 9 times out of 10 Martinez' brand of football is boring and ineffective!

Is it wrong of me to have a part of me that secretly wants us to lose those games so that a) we chase Martinez out of town and b) the fume on here will make the best reading in GOT history.
