Is there any reason at all to believe he'll get it right next season? Might be time to cut our losses regarding Martinez. His philosophy is great, just a shame he can't transform that philosphy off the field into reality on the pitch. After 2 years of massively underachieving, does he really warrant another chance? Extremely sad to see it hasn't worked out. Don't think he has it in him tbh.

Then given his win ratio in the league, we'll never get back to being a 'big club' or at least not while he remains.
I agree. I think we are now at the stage even the most hard headed Martinez fan (Davek) would admit, regardless of FA Cup success, that should this league form continue (winning less than 1 in every 3) then by next Christmas he'd be gone. I want him gone yesterday.

Is it wrong of me to have a part of me that secretly wants us to lose those games so that a) we chase Martinez out of town and b) the fume on here will make the best reading in GOT history.

Can't ever be hoping Everton lose a semi final, and absolutely never a Derby.

A midweek Derby is very high risk high reward for Martinez. Lose it will full strength and that knocks very fragile confidence. Lose it with rested players and that's him surrendering.

Win it and that is massive credit in the bank - but I maintain that it will not be enough to save him.

Yeah don't know what i was thinking.

Imagine the fume though

I just couldn't imagine a scenario where we won a cup and sacked the manager within days/weeks of it.
It would be a show of ruthless intent though one that hopefully would send a strong message to our best players and any we
are looking at signing that we have `ambition` .....

Its a given that Martinez is going to get sacked, I hope its sooner rather than later. I would not be suprised if Moshiri has not got
someone lined up, he knew are weaknesses before he invested. We keep banging on about winning the cup, we have to face United or West Ham first, after last time we played them I dont think we exactly have the `fear factor` .... a new guy now could shake things up the players may actually start to believe again ....

It isn't.

If we always scored more than the opposition we'd win every game.

Ok lost in translation. My English is poor. What I am trying to say is defence is the priority if you want to win a football game which he does not seem to agree with.

Bottom line for me: it continues to be a huge stretch to believe that what Martinez has done is worthy of dismiaal. Anyone advocating it has an ahistorical view of the club and how we've previously operated (a temperate tradition worth maintaining), and they have a shaky grasp of what's required to move us on.

Stop making stuff up. We had a period of stability under Moyes because he outperformed every coach that came before him in a massive way and never gave any reason for us to sack him. Before Moyes we had Harvey for 3 years, Kendall for three years, Walker for 8 months, Royle for 2.5 years, Kendall for a year, Smith for 3.5 years. We changed managers about every 3 years. Time for a change. There is absolutely no reason to believe that results will improve next season based on what we have seen last season and this season or based on Martinez' track record as a manager. He should never have been given the job.

Yes totally wrong mate. I and every blue surely want us to win every game we play in, league, cup, Europe anything. I want to see Everton leaving the pitch having defeated their opposition.

No it wouldn't. Insanity would be trying the same thing over and over again and expecting different results, like our home tactics for the last 18 months for example. The insane scenario is to persist and expect it to change.

You see mate, imo you're seeing it all wrong.

He will change things. Drastically. Because he now has what he had in short supply since he joined. Cash. More importantly, cash without sales.

You're acting like the model hasn't changed. Didnt you hear? We now have a billionaire owner. Raw youth isn't on the agenda anymore. We can attract proven quality.

Last time Martinez had proven quality in their prime we finished 5th.
