Wasn't there? I couldn't be arsed reading his tripe...or rather someone else's tripe that he's swiped and presented as his own/

No.

Not arsed who he nicked it off. But our home form is likely to be record breaking.

I really like Martinez, I really do. But even you would acknowledge that something aint right this season.

So what you're saying there is that before Moyes we had a series of managerial appointments that put us right in the toilet and almost relegated us...and that's supposed to be analogous to the Martinez situation where we're midtable and half a foot in a cup final?

'Making things up' my arse.

Royle is the only shout you have in that list, and he resigned after a feud with the chairman.

Apart from that, spot on.

*shakes head*

You imply that there is some sort of Everton tradition of sticking by managers and being patient. It simply isn't true. Most managers have lasted less than 3 years. We haven't been in a relegation fight this year but the direction of travel is clear. I know you keep saying we won't sack him. That may or may not be a defendable position but you can not defend Martinez' record or the team's performances last year or this year. Last year was some of the worst football I have ever seen Everton play. After every game I resolved to stop wasting my time watching because our football was so predictable and devoid of excitement. Boring possession, no intensity, no forward passes, no creativity. It was the same every week. This season has been slightly better in that we have scored more goals but our performances have still been very mixed and the results have been more or less the same (we have had two good cup runs but the only notable victory in those runs was Chelsea at home). We play well for 45 minutes and then fall apart. The vast majority of our good performances have also come against teams in the bottom half of the league. The guy is a complete shambles of a manager. He has also wasted £14m on a guy from the Russian league who he is too scared to play.

I found myself nodding pretty much in agreement (Martinez can be trusted to spend cash...does hehave the confidence of Moshiri over getting results? Who knows...or even knows if he's a decision maker in that respect)....then the name Moyes came up.

The feller is a standing joke in the game. No one wanted him at Everton at the end, then he stabbed the cub in the back. I dont know what Moyes is hanging about for (probably the Celtic job if they'll have him) but there's no way he'll end up back here.

That is so right. Thank heavens.

Is that just an assortment of randomly arranged sentences or is there a point I'm missing somewhere? I can't quite work out what you're saying.

It was i reply to a poster who said we could only beat relegation-fodder away from home. In fact we've won where title-chasing sides have dropped points.

We can't be that bad if we have one of the meanest defences on the road in the league.

Managers don't fundamentally change who they are because we want them too mate, he is what he is, 10 years into managing and he has never changed one bit, even when it meant his previous team went down he stuck by it.

Europe last season wasn't a good run btw, thats a myth, we did well in a group stage that any decent team should navigate, beat a awful team and then got absolutely humiliated by a half decent side when it mattered.

Cup semi - got battered as soon as City turned it on and looked clueless in the away game

All we are is 'potential' but the potential that was getting said 3 years ago about 18-20 yo lads is now being said about the same group who are now 21-23 yo players, pretty soon we will be talking about our potential with a team of 26 year olds and wondering where all that time went
I don't want Martinez to change his ways and his philosophy. He tries to win games, he attacks and goes for it. Being born in the 90s, the majority of Everton I've watched has been under Moyes which is why I'm comparing them. Every game we play, I'm confident we can win, we can go and score goals. Under Moyes that was never the case, even when he had a good squad in his last few years.

The Europa League last season was great, the toughest group of the tournament and we pissed it. Battered Wolfsburg, who are CL quarter finalists now, home and away. Kiev was a nightmare where they scored two wonder goals that sent them through.

And the potential you're talking about.. look at the difference between Lukaku and Barkley between now and Martinez's first season, huge difference. Stones has also improved, Deulofeu aswell. Martinez isn't perfect as if he had a good defence then there would be no debate, let's just hope that he sorts what needs to be sorting out in the summer if he stays.

Or arguably also last season, this one seems to be a continuation of last, only worst.

The evidence suggests that Martinez alone cannot achieve these levels, some of that years performance must be attributed to what he inherited. If he'd achieved that in his second year then no argument, but he did not, and now in his third season he's a long way from that level.
So you subscribe to the view that Moyes left his defence behind (all apart from Distin still here, btw in this 'failing' defence) and that Martinez left it as it was and reaped the benefits, rather than rip up the play book at the back and encourage those players to play in a fundamentally different manner: playing it out and carrying it forward? It's funny, but IIRC almost everyone at the time recognised that the defence was playing in a vastly different manner than it had previously.

I just laugh mow when I read the re-writing of history over this defence issue. "It was Moyes' defensive wall that provided the basis". You couldn't make this stuff up.

There is an absolute torrent of trash being claimed about and against Martinez right now. It's amusing that it mostly goes awol after a decent win like.

nevermind. The hysteria will fade again soon and we'll be back to where we were.

We haven't won a cup.
Love us to do this passionately but just cant for some reason come to terms with the fact that I have seen us loose 8 games at home..dont honestly think roberto will fluke the cup again - if that happens I think it will be despite him rather than because of him........doesnt stop me from being at the SF though...or the final... just hope he goes.... I remember what NSNO means..

Your username is apt - as you're believing in a pipe dream rather than a reality.

How many away wins have we had against teams in the current top 8?

How many have we played? Spurs couldn't break us down. We lost by the odd goal at Arsenal. City couldn't score against us at the Etihad. We held the Hammers to a draw at their place. We beat Stoke and Southampton 3-0 in their own back yard.
