I don't want Martinez to change his ways and his philosophy. He tries to win games, he attacks and goes for it. Being born in the 90s, the majority of Everton I've watched has been under Moyes which is why I'm comparing them. Every game we play, I'm confident we can win, we can go and score goals. Under Moyes that was never the case, even when he had a good squad in his last few years.

The Europa League last season was great, the toughest group of the tournament and we pissed it. Battered Wolfsburg, who are CL quarter finalists now, home and away. Kiev was a nightmare where they scored two wonder goals that sent them through.

And the potential you're talking about.. look at the difference between Lukaku and Barkley between now and Martinez's first season, huge difference. Stones has also improved, Deulofeu aswell. Martinez isn't perfect as if he had a good defence then there would be no debate, let's just hope that he sorts what needs to be sorting out in the summer if he stays.
In theory mate I agree with you, it's just when the results don't match that theory or when scoring 3 goals a game doesn't give us 3 points then its hard to still follow that line if thinking after 2 seasons of it.

Don't you understand, he doesn't know how to sort it out/and is simply not arsed about defending

Spurs are the only team to concede fewer away goals than us.

We've lost fewer away games than any other team in the league.

Stoke were only a point behind United at the start of today. They've beaten City, United and Chelsea at the Brittania and held Arsenal.

Bournemouth beat United and Chelsea after drawing with us.

West Brom have beaten United and Arsenal at the Hawthorns.

Southampton whooped Arsenal 4-0 at St Mary's and have also beaten Liverpool and West Ham there as well as denying Leicester 3 points.

If we were that badly organised our away form would be as bad as our home form.

To be fair, we're seventh in the "Away form" league and have played three less than the majority of those above us so five or six points from those catch up games would put us third or fourth.

But, we're 12th in the league, and you don't qualify for Champions League or Europa based on your away form.

I'm not having a go at non-match goers, but home games are, psychologically, more important to your average match goer because, for the majority of them, they're the games they go to. There are ~35000 Blues at our home games as opposed to 2 or 3 thousand at aways.

Even in the global environment that football operates in these days, with millions watching on TV and online, when it comes to pressure on a manager, there's still, rightly or wrongly, more weight given to the views of the regular match goers

Never got near Martinez's total...and he did it with his team he left behind.

Moyes was a dullard manager. He's underlined how limited he is by going to big clubs and not winning a bean and getting tin tacked.

But it's the positions that matter isn't it Dave??? Moyes finished 4th, regardless of points tally as you said 5th is the same as 15th.

It's quite funny you say that about moyes, because Martinez as come to a big club and ripped the heart from it. We used to have a proud home record, it was always a tough place but now it's a free for all which now reads

4 wins
8 defeats
28 goals conceded

This is everton

Not sure, but I think the Out's gone up about 100 this week ? The In's barely moved since Pre-Bournemouth when it stood at 474/746

Coming back from the match on the train yesterday the overwhelming feeling was his time should be up soon, and these aren't knee-jerkers, they're season ticket holders who've been going for decades and, even when we were awful last season, were prepared to persevere with him.

He's lost the fanbase and I don't think even a cup win will get most of them back, because most people no longer believe he can break the glass ceiling

Time will tell

Fans always have stark views on managers right after a big loss...same as after a big win.

...and if Everton are running round Wembley with silverware almost EVERYONE will be back onside, regardless of the bravado now.

davek - fisherman of the year award - bookies have stopped taking bets lollollol loved the entertainment yesterday and Leicester losing ground.....(oh wait.....)

You're missing the point. They are pretty much all scum without a clue or principle. The point I was making was that there is no industry led convulsion against martinez, not that the odd toe rag hack doesn't have a go at him...they have a go at everyone.
So is there anyone in the industry you do respect? I recall you name dropping certain outlets earlier in the season as some sort of vindication to the Entertainers tag, it at the time seemed as though you were saying because they were saying it, it was somewhat varified, yet when members of said broadcasters go against what you say, you just hammer the sayer as appose aknowleging the content. You can't have it both ways.

If I'd of told you in August this league campaign would pan out the way it has you'd of had something to say to me about my pre determined agenda against Martinez, now we are where we are, you've not budged 1 bit.

What will it take?

Well, yeah? Do you think Lukaku, Barkley and Stones would be this good after 3 seasons under a different manager? Martinez sets up to play to Lukaku's strength (he says that himself), which allows Barkley freedom to make mistakes and improve and the way we're more a passing team than long ball helps out Stones. Just three examples, could mention more and can mention players who have went downhill under Martinez but them players are top top players.

Defenders - he has 3 England internationals, 1 Argie, 1 Irish and 1 Costa Coffe at his disposal, and teams are still opening us up like a Sunday carvery

He used Talksport to back his point up before.

I like you, you're funny

No.

Not arsed who he nicked it off. But our home form is likely to be record breaking.

I really like Martinez, I really do. But even you would acknowledge that something aint right this season.
...at home it's not. It has to be put right.

Elsewhere (away and in the cups home and away) fine.

No need for the hysteria. It's all about home form. Nothing else.

When did Evertonians suddenly get the fickle idea of wanting a manager gone for being midtable and in the cups until the final rounds?

Make no mistake: this manager is being judged by a different criteria than others in the past.

Agree with you but it hasn't been 2 seasons of scoring 3 a game. It's really only been this season (I'm going against Martinez!) but last season was terrible, much worse than this season imo. This season the attacking has improved tenfold, the defence hasn't. Hopefully next season the defence can catch up and we'll have a top team home and away.
