Fans always have stark views on managers right after a big loss...same as after a big win.

...and if Everton are running round Wembley with silverware almost EVERYONE will be back onside, regardless of the bravado now.

I'm looking for consistency mate. If you hand the brick bats out when we lose have the good grace to get back on after a big win and offer the bouquets too.

Its called character.
People came on here and praised the resilience of the team against Chelsea, you just choose to ignore it. Evertonians want Everton to win every game. It just doesn't fit your agenda to remember it.
Making sweeping statements about hysteria, and all piping down when we win and not being consistent in their views. Then asking fans that after a big win we should all be back on board.
You've had a sound hiding in this thread, sorry Dave.

I'm beginning to look on Martinez as a bit of a fling on holiday when you've not had your end away for beards.

You're well chuffed if you get your end away / win a cup , swop email addresses and promise to keep in touch, but then go away and sort your life out properly with someone who can do more than give you a fleeting moment of pleasure.

I may have said too much
Look, pure and simple, we haven't had consistency or results. I struggle to see him keeping his job if we don't win the cup.
If he goes on to win it, the execution will be stayed but he'll be under real pressure to get results and be consistent in the league.

Ultimately though, we still haven't won anything for the last 21 years. Should we really turn down a cup win without the guarantee of any success in the future?
There are no guarantees in football, and IMO this team lacks a true winning mentality, knowing what it takes to win consistently. A cup win would help with that.

Exactly

I think this is almost certainly true. We're going to see a barrage of stuff about things being unacceptable after every draw or defeat till the end of the season. But I think if our board are happy with the level of players they've seen coming in then they'll stick for now unless we start to look in any realistic danger of losing them.
They will be as aware of where we need to improve as the fans are and how likely that is. I'm convinced he'll get time to get it right and this is year zero for them.
They've clearly already seen something they like so don't see them reacting to anything until they've had a good look.
Spot on mate. Cooler heads will prevail...which is why earlier I was making the point about industry wide context. Forum fever does not penetrate the citadel of the boardroom, intense and prolonged media criticism does.
