So you are telling me going from finishing top 5/6 every year, including Martinez' first season, to finishing below 10th isn't regression because of a cup run, and then blaming the board?

What?
I'm telling you this: we've gone from a club that was not successful to a club still unsuccessful.

You can mix the ingredients up and serve it whatever way you want, but it's still muck.

Get a trophy on the table and that's palatable.

I love the take on Martinez's career: 72 points = Moyes was responsible; FA Cup win = he killed a football club to do it. Have you ever thought your argument would benefit from giving the man some well earned credit? Just a thought.

Hes had the credit for his first season, almost everybody was onboard after that, but that was 18months ago David, since then we have seen a decline, a decline in results, a decline in performance, a decline in league placing.

We simply cant wait for this man to get a clue, if he ever will, hes been a manager for 7 years now, if the penny hasnt dropped yet it never will.

Question for everyone on here: what would be enough to give Martinez a stay of execution? That's if there is one of course.

Sadly even winning the Cup at this point will not be enough.

Too many have given up on him for him to carry on into next season. The atmosphere will only improve with a change I fear. We could win 10 on the bounce at this point and it wouldn't matter. Sad times, but I fear there is no other way.

I think Robertos quotes to the media about players shaping up or shipping out to be the sort of stuff that can lose the dressing room. The players are playing to the tactics that he has set the team up to use and deploy. It seems like the manager is throwing all the blame onto the players for our mediocre league form. What he should be saying is that both the players and myself have to look at ourselves here and improve.

Where to start with that. 'They are a very poor team', by what measure? Kante Vardy Mahrez Fuchs are all class players and would get in most sides in the league. Obviously they have a far superior manager but how can you call a team at the top of the table a very poor team? You may not individually rate their players or style of football but maybe this season will prove that they're not as important as having a competent manager at the helm.
I admire what their manager has done. I dont like their way of playing. It's 99% perspiration and 1% inspiration.

I still dont know how they've gotten away with it. Hopefully Spurs catch them. They're an embarrassment for English football. I;m not being a snob about it, but they are a terrible team to watch. The only thing people see in them is the actual spectacle of these players picking up points off teams by hook or by crook.

It aint pretty. You know it and I know it.

It certainly showed that after three games we have a load of 'supporters' who have absolutely nil patience. Strange how Moyes was given such a long leash by our supporters yet this guy was wanted out immediately by some.
Different times. Moyes kept us up and steadied the ship. New investment and Martinez is quite righrly getting pressure from fans. The home performances are dire and i certainly dont look foward to the games as i dont know which team will turn up. You cant expect fans to continue accepting the football we are getting. How else would you expect them to react?

He's attempted to take us in a different direction to the muck served up previously masquerading as football and Everton have been complimented on their style hundreds of times this season for playing expansive football and scoring more goals from open play than any other club.

I agree, but.

would concede

He has also shown that we do that way way too much.

Why it is so damn infuriating. He can do the tough bit, but not the simpler bit. And unless that is addressed, well. I posted probably word for word the same last winter. He seemed to have twigged it.

But no.

I realise it is futile to compare different sports, but even the best, most free scoring rugby teams can defend like beasts. We, as a team, dont appear to be able to. After 3 seasons, and with international football players.

I dont. If he named players I'd see your point. But it is a collective bollocking...and they need it too. He's stood in front of them and acted as their shield way too often. they need a kick up the arse...lots of it.
