I admire what their manager has done. I dont like their way of playing. It's 99% perspiration and 1% inspiration.

I still dont know how they've gotten away with it. Hopefully Spurs catch them. They're an embarrassment for English football. I;m not being a snob about it, but they are a terrible team to watch. The only thing people see in them is the actual spectacle of these players picking up points off teams by hook or by crook.

It aint pretty. You know it and I know it.

Most of English football is embarassing (none more so currently than us). Arsenal get pounded every year in Europe, Chelsea don't know what they're doing, ditto United, Liverpool have been kick and rush for years. All of those teams are currently serving up better than what we are doing though. Recently we have started to play like an ineffective Leicester. Sitting deep and lagging it long to Lukaku, of Barkley pounding out of defence and playing him in. Where's the possession football gone? We are a poor counterattacking side. Leicester are just a lot better at it than us. Possession football died a death this year throughout the league, we are certainly not the exception to the rule as we abandoned it away from home from the first game of the season and then in home games as well from about Jan onwards.

Damning stat, the evidence points to Martinez getting 5th, heavily being down to the well drilled talented team Moyes handed him, Martinez when given time has made us worse, there is no denying that, it's there for all to see.

Consistently in and around the top 6 year after year to now this.
Debatable in my eyes. I would put it down to Stubbs still being here.

LOL

Are you really criticising a team for finding tactics that win a title rather than passing it around like extras from The Walking Dead and getting beat every other week? In the hope of some long term aim to get back to where we were? Which for the record, wasnt freaking 12th.

LOLOLOLOLOL

I have to say, even by usual standards that post is a low, low ebb.

Would rather pass it around a bit than win the league. Jesus absolutely wept.

A lack of consistency induced under his tenure; others may even argue that such inconsistency is in fact due to his management.

Cup runs are exciting and have the potential to bring much needed silverware over a short period of games, but they can also flatter to deceive.

Martinez showed he had the ability to compete cup competitions while at Wigan, that that coincided with an inability to keep his side in the league.

I'd not begrudge a cup success at all, but it shouldn't be complete mitigating circumstances for a pretty poor showing over thirty-eight matches.
You should take the season as a whole. If you focus on the PL then you'll just see midtable consolidation, of course.

Look, I'm saying nothing now than when Moyes was here. I think I actually coined the term 7th placed trophy because it meant absolutely nothing to me. I couldn't give a rats arse back then or now about the consistency of reaching that position.

Our goal without cash is to snatch a trophy, regardless of league position as long as we're not in danger; with cash we need to focus on getting a CL spot.

That's the way it has to be, imo, and its not a position I'm conveniently taking up now to cover Martinez.

I still think this was to blame for it all...

Pah ! it must be great being a Leicester fan and you know it! Going home week in week out winning, beating the big boys ...

Its actually great for English football, it gives hope that anyone can succeed even if you have not got billions of oil money. I think this season has been great for the game, really open and unexpected results, it is great for the sport ..... unless of course you have 4 English Internationals, and the 2nd highest scoring stiker in the league and are sitting in 12 th place with good players complaing about how they have been treated
and a manager who specialises in talking utter gibberish ..................

So it's Stubbs, rather than season after season of Moyes drilling them in defending, how to hold a shape, when to press, as Cahill described in his book.

Martinez inherited a very well drilled unit, and according to Cahill, Moyes would spend a lot of hours drilling them in defending.

No mate.
I'm saying I don't enjoy watching Leicester. I'm saying if there is a chance that, with patience, our style can mean success then I'd rather perservere and find out. I'd rather do that than play like Leicester.

I've pretty much repeated my previous post but in different words.

Hope this clarifies.
