Watching the Germany v England game and seeing the Germans try to play out from the back and lose the ball (Ali should have scored) - even the world champions get it wrong sometimes. Are we over critical at times, if that was at Goodison we'd all be moaning.
We have a lot in common with the German team it seems, like losing from being two up.

I'm glad you acknowledge that Moyes was under pressure on numerous occasions during his Everton tenure. However, the fact that he wasn't under that much pressure during that summer, far less than he was in say the 05/06 season or after we lost to the RS in 2012, gives you some indication as to where Everton were during that period.

We were in no position to just sack the manager and get a better replacement back then, whereas we just don't need to settle for the second class services of Roberto Martinez right now. We can attract and afford better, so why stick with the second rate option that is about to see us regress to consecutive bottom half finishes? We can do better, so why put up with worse?
Hello mate, so that bit about Moyes there.

Did you watch the England game mate? Eric Dier though.

How do you think Moyes would have done with the same amounts of money bearing in mind the rise of transfer fees where a scott dann is valued at £20mil and Mori £9.5mil.

Also look at the players we had then + the ages. Moyes would also have had to do a major clearout....

Style of play has changed also as has the wave of youth signed in a short period.

Mori adapting
Stones and barkley developing
deulofeu developing
lukaku slated massively and now hero
besic and mccarthy both young
Galloway too

I couldnt see moyes signing the same calibre of player who are still 5+ years away from their peaks in most cases....

not in this timeframe and he never did in 11 seasons.
I'm sure Moyes signed Stones ?????????????

Both examples you cited are of arrivals

Well Martinez was an arrival nearly three seasons ago. Ok, here's another, non Everton though.

Alex Ferguson

First full year in charge. 11th
Second Season. 2nd.
Third Season. 11th.
Fourth Season. 13th. Interestingly they won the FA CUP that year.

Now I'm not for one minute, claiming Martinez is the new Ferguson. What I am claiming though. Is initially a manager can have ups as well as downs before they go on to be successful.

Of those you listed there's only Cahill who he signed in his first two and a half seasons at the club. Which is where Martinez is now.

Oh.

Awh, chiics, you can't compare the first 3 seasons of these two managers. Everton where as attractive and broke as modern day Lindsay Lohan back in 2002. Bad stuff.

I much preferred you on the fence you're killing yourself.

And me :'(

Fergie was very successful at Aberdeen beforehand, whereas Martinez relegated Wigan after year upon year of relegation fights and poor defensive problems. Read comments from Wigan fans mate when he first came as to what we were to expect it's clear he's not for changing and never will be.

Swansea fans would agree too.

Swansea: he resurrected their joke of a club; Wigan: he gave those hillbillies success they could never dream of.

"Fans' of both those two no mark clubs should be on their hands and knees praising him, the small time tits.

Not only did Moyes leave Martinez a respectable solid Everton team. He gave him 30 million to spend in the transfer of fellaini just as Roberto was learning the names of the suits. It's absolutely shambolic to compare Martinez first few seasons against Moyes first. Anyone trying to actually use it against Moyes is having a stinker.

Ferguson was successful, albeit in a minor league. Relatively Martinez was successful with both Swansea and Wigan. And I've read the Wigan comments and they are foreboding and prescient. However, like I said I'm not suggesting that Martinez is the new Ferguson, I'm merely pointing you towards the idea that managers and people, can start unpredictably, then go on to achieve enormous success, not just in football but in the wider sense as well.
