Looking at the stats, In Martinez's first season we had the most clean sheets in our premier league history. This season we are scoring for fun.

It proves he is our best defensive manager when he wants, and our best offensive manager. He needs patience, because he will get the balance right next season or the one after. Especially, with the 150 million warchest and a preseason for Niasse.

We will be on fire.
That's about as unlikely as him being able to feed the Park end at half time with a few fish and a couple of loaves

You could literally start another thread on the Martinez vs Moyes debate and it could go on indefinitely without ever getting a result.

Well granted but up to this point and only up to this present point Moyes is undeniably, undoubtedly, irrefutably, the better manager for Everton Football Club. It just cannot be argued against. Up to this point I stress.

As much as I dislike the man deeply for the way he went on when and how he left us.

I wrote awhile back that what perhaps Martinez needs is a nadir moment. A low point. That we all have had in our lives. Well if you've lived long enough, you'll have one. It's when we learn the most about ourselves, our methods. Are we the actually architect of our own disasters.

You see I sincerely believe that Martinez, especially considering his age, has a lot of potential and talent already. The conundrum for me is, why isn't he producing it consistently. Well maybe he just needs that moment or even an epiphany. Maybe he just needs a break.

Now for some. Their patience has run out. It's time for him to go. Which is understandable. What I would suggest though, is some of the most successful leaders, sportsman, business people etc...have only really blossomed after their nadir or "road to Damascus" defining moment, when everything clicks into place.

What we could be seeing here is what story tellers refer to as a story arc. He's either the fool or the hero. The FA Cup will decide that.
If 9-1 at White Hart Lane didn't do the trick, I shudder to think how low he'd have to get.

Swansea: he resurrected their joke of a club; Wigan: he gave those hillbillies success they could never dream of.

"Fans' of both those two no mark clubs should be on their hands and knees praising him, the small time tits.

....don't knock 'em mate, KATE MOSS based her entire career around a set.

Ferguson was successful, albeit in a minor league. Relatively Martinez was successful with both Swansea and Wigan. And I've read the Wigan comments and they are foreboding and prescient. However, like I said I'm not suggesting that Martinez is the new Ferguson, I'm merely pointing you towards the idea that managers and people, can start unpredictably, then go on to achieve enormous success, not just in football but in the wider sense as well.

He also won the European cup winners cup with Aberdeen. That's a little more than success in a minor league.

I don't think you're getting what I'm trying to say here. 9-1 defeat, is a one off. We can all put setbacks down to bad luck etc...

Let's instead take the record home defeats as an example. I'd guess that Martinez is aware of that. Furthermore, I'd propose his professional pride is hurt too. Because of the longevity, an entire season. Not just a one-off. And because it's being used as a stick to beat him with.

It may be to late to rectify it but, I could be wrong here, it wouldn't surprise me to see Everton's cavalier approach tempered. After all, look at the Chelsea game and to a certain extent our defensive performances in the new year compared to last. To me, he looks like he is attempting to find a suitable balance to between attack and defense.

Can it be improved, yes and to a degree I think his defenders have let him down. But I see improvement, change, adaptability. I don't think we should be so quick to judge him after the Arsenal result. Let's see what transpires until the end of the season.

But people aren't just judging him on the Arsenal result. No one who wants him out is judging him on one game. It's been a long road to this point

I don't think we should be so quick to judge him on the Chelsea performance either. It's not reflective of his team over the last 2 years

Maybe that's why he got the United job. Not to dissimilar to Martinez being hired after an FA Cup win. perhaps both boards saw potential.

The cup winners cup was a bigger deal back then than the Europa is now and tough to win. I believe they even beat Bayern Munich en route

Well in contemporary Everton terms, three years is not that long. And when you look at his record, it's not that bad. Factoring in the positives. Of course the home record is grim, and all the other stats that you can bring against him. But in that, he's hardly alone amongst managers who have gone on to achieve widespread success.

The question you may need to ask yourself is, are you prepared to give him a chance. He's got us to the semi-finals, surely a bit of patience here isn't intolerable. Let the events/fate play out before we start judging. If he wins the Cup. I'm sure those looking to fire him now, will look more the fool than Martinez himself.
