Moyes could handle players with ego. Martinez seemingly can't. He's fallen out with Leighton Baines for goodness sake who is practically a school prefect. Distin Pienaar Mirallas Etoo and Osman all seem/seemed fed up with him. I'd wager that Stones and Lukaku would be if they didn't need the game time to further their careers.

Perhaps that might explain the current lack of leadership in the team? I couldn't see Martinez able to handle teams with the characters of Cahill Gravesen Carsley Stubbs Ferguson Neville Donovan Distin Fellaini Pienaar etc. All those strong characters yet barely a word against Moyes' management in 11 years. That is control through the blend of good man management, discipline, and showing the players your methods get results. Martinez has seemingly displayed none of these qualities which is why we have a horrifically inconsistent team and woeful underperformance.

Baines has fell out with him? Has he really or have you just made that up?

I think the the majority of players you mention had good characters. I think Moyes was very careful to avoid players who would upset the strong dressing room. He fell out with players like Drenthe, but who hasn't. He seemed to struggle with handling the big egos at Utd.

It still doesn't really help Matinez out because its generally regarded that he has got a group of good lads, players who won't generally rock the boat. If he is getting on the wrong side of players like Baines, that speaks volumes.

I wish Evertonians acceded to evidence presented them.

Roberto Martinez is a sham.

Instead, too many hang onto the coat-tails of the 'twice right a day' broken clock that the strangely avatared citrus headed da-Vek presents them

I nowaday read little of his WUM stompings

da-Vek's painted himself into an unabashedly parochial, kopite-like 'I'm right... you're wrong' corner and in incendiary fury, stamps his furious feet at any argument that dares threaten his regard...

...he's the Rumpelstiltskin of GOT

I lend da-Vek zero currency

Outside of the dyed in the wool cultists herein this forum, I suggest others exercise similar bureau de change

The level of quality martinez is signing is far better than those listed...

Mori and Lescott we'll see once adapted
Lukaku
Deulofeu
Besic

These are real top class players...

Moyes couldnt attract anyone at Utd.
Lukaku was the only one who was perceived as top class. Even then was a partially seen as a Chelsea reject. Del was potential.

You won't get any argument from me that Martinez has assembled a really top quality squad.

The problem is that a world XI coached by Martinez would get beat by a good counter attacking team like Leicester because his philosophy does not work and he is too blinkered to see it.

You just couldn't make it up. You're nailed on for a job as lead 'inside' sports writer at the Sunday Sport.
Fallen out with Baines? Who told you that....Twitter Baines Nan?
Moyes could handle egos? Go back to the vaults and read the plethora of pages about he too had 'lost the dressing room'.

There's really no need for posters to go on about other posters in this way, it adds nothing to the debate and just fuels bad feelings over an already contentious subject.

Let's drop the personal comments on both sides of the argument. Thank you.

If @davek should be ignored why write a post about @davek? Other than to parade your literary prowess with some fine words which are most impressive, I'd say he's got right under your skin. :-)

you are right of course...but sometime I think there is a (what I consider) WUM element that needs challenge. There is too many page on our forum accelerated by such 'Rumpelstiltskinism'
I usually ignore it, but sometime ....
Anyway, I hear what you heed...

It's definitely no coincidence - it's exactly what you might expect from a young team with a terrible goalkeeper.

Yeah, we might EXPECT a 'Young team with a terrible goalkeeper' to ship a goal within a minute of a restart - as they did at bournemouth.

Hell, they could've been forgiven for conceding 90+ goals that game, if it's the case that it might be EXPECTED.

I mean, it only took chelsea the space of TWO whole minutes to come from 2-0 down to draw level...

But I guess west ham are the real slackers. Took them all of 12 minutes to win a game 2-3 after being 2-0 down with 12 mins left. And we were at home where the fans case the team, because our form at home's utter cack. Them 'ammers are lazy gets.
