It is well documented Stones was Martinez's target...the melts round here these days don't want to accept the truth.

What would've been the point martinez signing him for wigan? Stones wouldn't have kept them up. Then Stones gets relegated and the odds are (Unless Moyles rescues him) that he'd have faded into obscurity. We both know it.

I guess there is not really much point in this debate now until after the semi final. If he wins the cup he will get a reprieve, unless we lose every league game and drop like a stone. Looks to me though that even if we lose our next 4 league games there would still be some here defending him and not considering the league form at all due to agendas.

These are real top class players...

Moyes couldnt attract anyone at Utd.

But so far, Moyes has attracted better to Everton, at a time when we were skint. I will be very surprised if Mori reaches the hights of Lescott; that's attracting the attention of the richest club in the world and winning leagues and cups with them. Besic and Deulofeu have got miles to go until they reach the standards of Arteta, Cahill and Fellaini. Deulofeu can't even get a game and has been benched by the two clubs he has played for. You are kidding yourself that they are massive names that Bobby Martinez and Bobby Martinez only can attract.

I will make this point about both managers, the players weren't signing for Moyes or Martinez FC. They were signing for Everton Football Club. Martinez is not paying their wages, Everton are. The idea that Martinez has some golden touch in attracting top tier players is just not true. He has done OK, nothing more.

On the point about Stones, Martinez, and Moyes. Ask yourself why Moyes got him and Martinez didn't. It wasn't necessarily because Moyes was better at attracting good players than Martinez (although his record suggests he was), it's because he was offering him the chance to join EVERTON FOOTBALL CLUB! Which still has a massive pull, and absolutely obliterates the likes of Wigan if a player is faced with choosing one of the two teams.

I've always wondered if Martinez tells the players the same guff as the press when we get beat? Such as we played well, magnificent, incredible etc. Or does he have a go at them for being crap?

I don't care how much they get paid; If a player doesn't respect the manager or isn't scared of a bollocking after the game then the player hasn't got any real reason to perform week in week out.

It's worrying for our young stars, and for our league position. I like Martinez as a bloke, but he either needs a new style, or we need a new manager to take us forward

Often wondered this meself.

To me, it's like he's got a class of talented but unruly kids, and is only focusing on the talented side. Too much of letting the kids decide what to do as long as it's within boundaries martinez has asked for. All this 'players expressing themselves' seems to me to be a lack of knowledge, or guidance, or strict discipline on martinez's part.
