But that's not all of the points were fine margins have cost us.Yes, I most certainly do. Especially in games when we've been two goals to the good. No excuses for it happening THREE times in one season and us losing seven points.....And that's just those three games alone - fool me once & all that, but THREE times??
And I haven't mentioned the CC semi when we had a 2.1 advantage that went out the window.
The buck stops with martinez.

...which just shows there are two narratives here on Martinez. And you can bet your bottom dollar that in the vast majority of football clubs you'll get that concerning the current team manager. You could easily state the alternative:
- He has lost the fan base
- The media are turning on him, even the Echo are getting critical
- We are on course to finish bottom half, for the second season on the bounce - something we haven't done in 14 years.
- We are on course for our worst home record ever
- With the exception of Troyes, we have the worst home defensive record in Europe
- Moshiri hasn't publicly backed him. The only time he mentioned him was "good luck to Roberto and the boys" before the Chelsea match .
- Our goal machine striker (who without his goals we would be in a relegation fight) has affectively said that he wants off in the summer
- In 7 premier league seasons, he has finished bottom half in six of them.
- It could get so much worse
Also gonna be loads still slating him even if he goes unbeaten. Think all these ultimatums without context at the moment are a bit meaningless.
I asked a few months ago, when people were asking for defensive improvement and giving ultimatums, how many games would we have to show improvement in before overlooking a one off performance. And judging by the reaction to the West Ham game I'd say many weren't looking for overall signs of improvement and actually had seen enough. Which is a fair enough position, but not one that's monitoring the situation with context.
So I'm sure there are people who are immovable on both sides barring something extraordinary. I can't see it really adds any weight to the actual debate about him staying or not.
You're the melt mate! You wouldn't know the truth about Everton if it slapped you in the face!
On the point about Stones, Martinez, and Moyes. Ask yourself why Moyes got him and Martinez didn't. It wasn't necessarily because Moyes was better at attracting good players than Martinez (although his record suggests he was), it's because he was offering him the chance to join EVERTON FOOTBALL CLUB! Which still has a massive pull, and absolutely obliterates the likes of Wigan if a player is faced with choosing one of the two teams.
Unity comes with victory. You saw that after we swept Chelsea aside in the QFs. Unity is always a big win away. That's the fact of the matter. It's not healthy to have so many blues against the manager and if its a choice between half the fan base and Martinez, I know who I would back. We need a united club.

There's nothing going on here above and beyond that. Anyone thinking there is has got cabin fever.
Not sure it's as divided as people think. We're always probably gonna focus on the edges of the argument as they are the most fiercely disputed. I think there may well be a massive majority which lies between 'let's see what happens but he's going to have to really prove himself' and 'let's see what happens cos I've seen enough to think it's worth it '. We're unlikely to hear there views stated as often probably because they're not as fervently held and many will just feel it's hardly worth stating. You are right mate, many fans have already made up their minds on him. Even if he was to have a fantastic April, many would still want him gone, I would probably put myself in that category.
I'm not going to repeat the statistics as we all know them. But season ticket holders especially are entitled to look at what has been served up an say it is not good enough. It would be a surprise if there weren't Evertonians calling for his head.
I personally think he has lost the majority of the fan base but for the sake of compromise I will say that it it spilt and bitterly split at that.
But who's fault is that? In his focus on the long term he has neglected the short term and now Evertonains are divided.

Whingebag!
You're the melt mate!
Very interested to see what happens if we do win it. Can't imagine we've been in a position like this before were people have nailed their opinions down so openly before events. Can't believe many will choose to moderate any emotional response just because of what's been stated. Who knows though.I agree with a lot of your points but winning the cup would go a long way in settling some of those differances.
Pack it in.
I'm loathe to do this, as I'm more than capable of dealing with a few words written on the internet, and I don't feel the need to go crying to forum moderators. But why don't you have a look at the comments that preceded my comments?
He intervened in a conversation between me and another user just to have a whinging, snivelling dig about a comment I made two years ago. One which he is totally obsessed with and won't stop crying about. Not only was his comment off-topic, but it was also personal.
Then he thinks he has the right to call half the forum a 'melt'. I responded to this by rightfully informing him that it is actually him who is the massive chicken BBQ melt! And yet I'm the one who gets told to pack it in!
