The main difference is that the people who are backing martinez are looking long term and giving him the chance to build something.

Looking at wages and transfer spend i think we should be around 8/9th. Next season 6th and upwards after.

However as @davek pointed out there were martinez threads popping up not even halfway into his 2nd sesson.

The main difference based on this forum is that "most" martinez out posters want to finish 5-7th and are angry that were in 12th.

Martinez backers want to see us being build into a regular top 4 side and are patient as we can see it being achieved.
Does that mean that you are currently seeing things that lead you to believe it's currently in the process of being achieved.

Or.

You just have faith he can do it.

It's the word 'being' that had thrown me.

Completely untrue. Nothing more than an attempt to paint anyone unhappy with Martinez as wanting Moyes back. There are more than two managers who could manage Everton. I think neatly everyone on this forum would want us to be a top 4 side, there are quite a few though who don't see probable back to back finishes as evidence towards a move to the top 4.

He should of listened to his own words about grass and it being greener. I'd be gutted if he came back. Even more gutted than if Martinez stayed.

Yep. Been there, done that. Never worked with Howard Kendall (Twice). In fact, I can't even remember a player returning and being better the second time about.

I think alot of points have been covered.

Focusing solely on the squad, he's improved it but hasnt had the funds available thst even the top 8 have spent. I can see what hes doing and am looking forward to him taking the next step this summer and rebuilding further.

Once he has signed the obvious 4 players required then i'll judge him on league results....until then hes being judged on an unfinished job which i find unfair.

Take moyes out of the picture.

There is not enough money to compete with the top 4...people want to finish 5-7th and are happy with that.

Im not...i want to see us finishing top 4 regularly. To do this you need to be innovative like atletico and depor before them as well as even villereal. Same in other leagues. Take a hit short term to build something different to take on the top sides.

Its clear this unfinished squad has the POTENTIAL to do that.

The hate filled anger from some posters demanding 5-7th is just a bit odd for me. I expected 8th this season and the way its gone 8th or 9th if expect.

Thats just realism.

I think the main difference is though that players have come out and said they have signed because of martinez. But im struggling to think of any that said they had signed because of moyes.

Difference is 11 years compared to 2.5 years...massive difference in quality signed already.

Players of every club state that they have joined that club because of the manager. It is unsurprising and is nothing new.

It's pretty obvious why, as in most cases it will have been the manager that wanted the player in the first place and also that he will likely have a role in the team in mind for him.

Unless of course his name is Oumar Niasse .

Im noteven posting this fo a reaction...

But who actually has said they signed for us due to Moyes?

I would bet my life on that he'll be here next season but won't make it to the one after. He'll spend a kings ransom £80 million+ and will be sat in the bottom half come Xmas without Roms goals. The knives will be well and truly out even from those that supported him being kept on that season and come the end Moshiri will pot him after him underachieving a 3rd season running (and spending big that one).
I think you are letting your imagination get the better of you .Do you really think a man will invest 85 mill and let that happen ? The same guy who has accumulated 1.3 bill ?
Come on just think

You're the melt mate! You wouldn't know the truth about Everton if it slapped you in the face!

On the point about Stones, Martinez, and Moyes. Ask yourself why Moyes got him and Martinez didn't. It wasn't necessarily because Moyes was better at attracting good players than Martinez (although his record suggests he was), it's because he was offering him the chance to join EVERTON FOOTBALL CLUB! Which still has a massive pull, and absolutely obliterates the likes of Wigan if a player is faced with choosing one of the two teams.

I have asked on several occasions for comments about other posters to cease.

I'm loathe to do this, as I'm more than capable of dealing with a few words written on the internet, and I don't feel the need to go crying to forum moderators. But why don't you have a look at the comments that preceded my comments?

He intervened in a conversation between me and another user just to have a whinging, snivelling dig about a comment I made two years ago. One which he is totally obsessed with and won't stop crying about. Not only was his comment off-topic, but it was also personal.

Then he thinks he has the right to call half the forum a 'melt'. I responded to this by rightfully informing him that it is actually him who is the massive chicken BBQ melt! And yet I'm the one who gets told to pack it in!

Think you need a short time out mate.

.

But I don't know what you are seeing that gives you so much hope.

For us to become top four contenders we need to learn to defend. Somehow, this defence, which is one of the worst at home in Europe, has to drastically improve and become good, for us to be top four contenders.

Having looked into Martinez's managerial history there is absolutely nothing, zilch, that leads me to believe that he is capable of building a good defence. I mean, I think it is fair to judge someone over 7 years in the Premier League.

So what in his managerial locker, leads you to believe that he will turn us into a side that can both defend and attack (emphasis on defend)? Please enlighten me and give me some good examples of when he has managed to turn around a struggling defence? I would love to see you try.

Obviously there is something that I am missing.

If I could truly see him turning around the defence and making us a consistent side I would say fair enough and back him. But for that to happen, I and many other blues need more than just blind faith. We need some evidence that points to the fact that he is capable of turning this around and for that to happen the defence needs to massively improve.
