Here three seasons:

One excellent PL campaign...on the strength of which he got a five year deal.
One tosh year when he struggled to do much else than a decent Euro campaign
One season when we've done very well in the domestic cups and still have a great chance of winning something (remember: winning trophies is what this is all about, not pats on the head for finishing 7th.)

Sorry, but for NO Everton manager in the last two decades has that ^^^^ represented failure.

Moshiri is here now and things have changed? Well we haven;t felt those changes yet and it's only logical and reasonable that Martinez is judged on the way the club has been run in those last two decades.
Had Moyes delivered 2 consecutive bottom half finishes in the PL with that squad, you'd want his head on a spike mate.

Dress it up all you like, but the simple facts remain the same.

His PL performance for 2 seasons running has been substandard given the tools he has had at his disposal

The cup runs have been great, but they don't gloss over the failure in the league.

He's fortunate that the pragmatic Kenwright has still got half a hand on the rudder, as I'm certain he'll urge Moshiri to not shoot him for that failure, off the back of said cup runs.

I now think he'll get at least until the end of the year to turn the league form around. Should he? Not for me, but it's not my decision.

The media are now cranking up the pressure on Martinez, and the emperors new clothes are being seen for what they really are. I think he's a relatively poor manager personally and always have done. He made me eat my words in season 1, but since then he's reverted to type with a vengeance. I can't see him changing and therefore he's destined for the boot, the only question mark imo, is the timing of it. 2 months, 9 months, 12 months, the outcome will be the same. Please bookmark for the vaulting opportunity mate.

Why the thread going in circles? People who repeat the posts (facts or 72 points...) shuld be banned automatically...

Spot on its inevitable he's either gone in the summer or next year after spending a no doubt kings ransom in the summer.

For me it's damage limitation that he goes this summer rather than next, and have a new manager try convince our best players to stay/invest the big pot of cash into his own players.

It's part of the fun. Someone says about 72 points as thats the only defence there is of bobby and someone else lists the numerous reasons Martinez should go

We enjoy the merry go round

Really it's all just building up to Moshiris decision on the future and one group will end up with egg on their face

I think he is saying he wanted 18 months ago and has waited until now, however there is no sign of it on the horizon.
Depends where you are as to how worrying this is. If you're on your phone staring out to sea then nothing on the horizon is a shocking state of affairs.
Or put a less facetious way, how the hell do people conjur up these doom laden prophecies.
Surely the main appeal to your average football fan has always been the randomness of it all. How things can turn around. How much confidence, spontaneity and chance play a part.
I think part of the reason I've shifted over to actually stand by Martinez for now is this constant barrage of formulations designed to prove something that's completely unprovable. And thank god for that.
Thank god for Leicester just clicking for no calculable reason. Thank god for the magic. Thank you for the music etc..
FA cup semi coming up kids. Who fancies it?

You're all still arguing with someone who said there's no difference between 15th and 5th, and advocated the melting down of the Dixie statue for one of Martinez.

I'm not sure who is crazier at this point.
Fair point tubes.

I think I'm addicted.

I'll be still arguing even after he's been sacked and Jose has just completed the double for us.

If you hate it all why do you come here to have a dig at people voicing their opinions. Attendance is not mandatory

You've switched over to be pro Martinez in the face of the unprovable formulations such as

Second highest goals conceded record in Europe

Worst home record in years and possibly ever

Second consecutive season in the bottom half.

Our top young players want to leave

you know the answer to that question, it's a borderline facetious.

But the answer is, because the great job done at squad building means our squad should be aiming to compete.
....ahhhh!

...best let the man responsible get on with developing it further then.
I agree completely that he can build a talented squad.

I question whether he can make the most of its potential/actual talent.
