Weird isn't it, because we don't grab the pitch forks after every loss it is us that lack rationale.

It's an overzealous defence of martinez, using statistics that are almost worthless and outweighed by more statistics that irrefutably demonstrate mediocrity that I find weird.

Adding to what I said a few pages back, I do think there is a very good manager in there somewhere and I think we're close to getting things to 'click'. Unfortunately for whatever reason he hasn't quite managed it the last couple of seasons.

I'd be interested to see how he spends our (hopefully) inflating transfer budget if he hangs onto his job.
Technically there is , but because he convinces himself the way he plays is right he won't change, even when the other team know how to counter it. He has been doing it for years so it is unlikely to change.

Case and point us HIS backroom staff, he sticks by them yet so far in 6 years they haven't actually done the simple hob of getting results for him. A wise man would have looked at this and decided to change it up after so long but instead we get the same results from them all as they had in their last jobs.

What amazes me is that after 6 years and seeing poor defences in 5 if them, he isn't changing his focus whatsoever and continuing to believe it will work one day for him.

"With a run to the semi-finals of the Capital One Cup under their belt and a final-four clash in the FA Cup to come, the season has been far from a failure."

Exactly right. And what the rest of the industry sees.

Rodgers got Liverpool to the semi finals of both cups last season mate. Means absolutely nothing unless you win the things and even then we'll be seen as another plucky Swansea/Wigan mid table club getting their 15 minutes of fame.

We should be winning trophies and fighting for the European places.

This is nothing more than the usual pat on the head from the big 5 media. I never expect any pressure on Martinez from them because he is a dream manager for not rocking the establishment. Finishing ahead of Liverpool and bothering the top 4 did not sit well with them. Staying in the bottom half and polishing up players for other clubs to use is their ideal scenario for Everton.

@davek

Look at that mate, another Rodgers comparison !

He is our Brendan Rodgers, there is no difference except Rodgers actually done a better job despite the money spent.

Most of what we do really really well is counter attacking football. We don't really break down opponents who sit back against us, we don't have silky smooth possession, we don't close down opponents, we don't press, we don't practice corners or set pieces on either side of the ball and we have the fitness of a team in preseason all season long. We are absolutely fantastic at counter attacking. Just as Leicester are. Whats the difference between the two? One prioritizes defence and a tireless work rate.

Honestly, Im not even sure how much of the label of 'THE ENTERTAINERS!' should even be down to Martinez. Like I said, we are a fantastic counter attacking side. Thats like 95% instinctive. The players bombing on ahead with the ball don't have a plan.

They are certainly 2 peas in a pod in many ways, their owners had sense to suss Rodgers out and hook him let's hope Moshiri does the same.
The point I made previously to our friend I tagged.

In fact read his posts and swap the name martinez for Hughes, again same achievements made at stoke.

I just hope the club can see the comparison and can do a Liverpool and show a bit of ambition in his replacement because if not then we may as well give up now.

languishing in the bottom half of the table (again) below west brom, level with newly promoted Bournemouth, 2 points ahead of Swansea who by their own admission are having a bad season; with the squad we have is a total failure. having two good cup runs to me does not make up for that.

I don't think calls for patience and letting the lad get on with his job until May is overzealous. The lynchings after every bad result and the overwhelming silence when we win is more notable for its zeal
