Player Valuation: £40m
See mate, one little niggling thing here. By signing proven winners, what he would want effectively do is sign players who can play in spite of him not for him. The same way the players dropped his tactics on saturday when they could see they weren't working again and had a go, signing proven winners would just encourage more of that.
And more to the point, what proven winners would want to play for a manager who is proving he can't get a team winning games?
Firstly, money talks. Would Yaya Toure have signed for City before the investment? Of course not.
I mean this with absolute respect, I cant understand the 'spite of him' point. There are so few world class managers yet lots of brilliant teams. Im thinking here of all (well, nearly all) those in the CL - they dont all have wonderful managers.
Instead they have a blend of winners and youth players (again, most of them!).
Let's say we bring in Rooney (just an example), Hummels, Yarmolenko, and some golden boy RB. These might be unrealistic of course/
Those 4 players know what it's like to win leagues, win trophies. So when we got 3-2 up at Bournemouth, or 2-1 vs Stoke, we would rely on this core of quality to grab the team by the scruff of the neck and see us through. They, and consequently us, would be relying on their experience.
We dont have that at the mo. We have some great players - Jags, Baines, Coleman who all between them have won absolutely nothing.
To me, getting in some proven quality would make a big big difference.
