Whatever... the fact is, we played really well in all 3 games, ridiculously unlucky with that shitty goal vs spurs, penalty decision against arsenal which is what changed the game completely & i can't remember the chelsea game because i've got Alzheimers disease apparently
 
Dave, I just go by what I see with my own eyes.

It used to be when we got a corner the crowd became excited.....now we don't.

If I recall correctly, Lukaku in the derby is the only goal we have scored direct from a corner this season.....and I am struggling to think of any clear headers we have got in from corners either.

The aerial threat has been removed from the Everton armoury.
 
I would like to know teams who have the mysterious plan b, to my mind it suggests a different way of playing an example might be Barca struggling in a game and going long ball or West Ham similarly placed deciding at half time to play like Arsenal.

Certainly City bring on the big lad Dzeko to provide the time honoured "lump it to the big lad" but in reality plan b is forum speak for having fresher equivalent players to call on.

There's an obvious problem at Everton why we don't have that.
 
goodness me, you'd think we had stopped putting the ball in the box altogether! we still do it...just not as much

I don't really believe in luck so that doesn't work either.

Facts are facts. We didn't win those games.

Because we had to rely on that for goals... we're better than that now.. we should bring in sam allardyce ayy and improve our set pieces.

He's a manager who prefers to tweak things rather than disrupt a system and go in another direction. I must admit, I do have sympathy for you and others on our apparent lack of change in shape (it's why I was wondering out loud last week if the option of breaking up Barry/McCarthy for McCarthy/Barkley was the step we needed next - to allow us to soak up a bit and counter a lot more).

However, if you look at how many times Martinez has made his 'tweaks' with subs and then secured the points it's understandable that he persists with his principles and feels they just need fine-tuning with in-game decision making on switching personnel around.

He's superb with substitutes. Just top notch.

you're kidding me... we didn't win those games?? geeeeees why didn't anyone tell me..

if you read my post clearly and listen to our manager! we did not win these games but played phenomenally well and aslong as we keep repeating those performances, the results will change...

so what he's saying is, it's not asif we are getting beat and playing badly, we're playing really well but weren't getting the luck infront of goal.. that will change, we've got lukaku back now too. the break will have done him good

Even with their vast array of World Class talent, they're not the same side they were at their pinnacle under Pep, as they've dropped their workrate off the ball from the high intensity it was under him. Notably he's added that to Bayern's locker and they're now the best around.

yeah i couldn't understand why people were saying that subs needed to be made at about 50 minutes against arsenal? just because the second half started slow they think that means ''we need a sub to change the game''
we played really well first half, the second half started slowly (FOR BOTH SIDES) so dramatic subs weren't needed at that stage

I don't disagree at all.

(except the luck bit).

We played ok. But what's the point if you don't win? Or even draw.

Would you not rather play a little worse and then get a result? I know I would.

I don't hate Martinez at all I should say. It's very early in his time with us and there's lots of good signs. But I'm not going over the top here.
