Roberto Martinez discussion

The state of this thread. Fans who are happy for Everton to underachieve trying to hammer fellow Evertonians for apparently wanting Everton to lose.....WOW

People throwing the '7th placed trophy' jibe whilst seemingly missing the point that if a team finishes 7th then more weekends than not are NOT going to be ruined by dour Everton performances AND results.

Some so called fans are laughing stocks, @davek is the best poster on this forum by a country mile, some of his followers are utter cringe. Following him around from thread to thread Like after like, then making the worst attempts to do what he does. Dear dear me.

Just to clarify on what is being said....

If you were not happy with Martinez in the first place then you are a 'plotter' - Despite THE FACT he is doing with the team what, presumably, they thought he would have done in the first place now

Or

If you were at one point happy with Martinez after 12 months at 28 months a furthur 16 months from when things were seemingly going well you are now NOT happy you are fickle

YET the posters who defend Martinez no matter what have now resorted to goading FELLOW Evertonians by saying that the ones who are currently dissapointed with Martinez are 'laughable' 'entertaining' and 'amusing'

Basically Everton mean nowhere near as much to them as they do to those who realise that Martinez isnt good enough to be managing our club and the reasoning behind that is quite simple. The fans who are supporting Martinez despite our results over the past 16 months are supporting Martinez simply because they don't want to be proven wrong, whereas all the fans who want rid of Martinez reguardless of whether it was your initial reaction to his appointment or based on last season are at least putting Everton first.

Everton are my only concern and no one individual.

If we win 6 or 7 of our next 8 or 9 games you wont hear a peep from me, because I'm fickle when it comes to Everton doing well. but we won't and we all know it.

Mate, we should all pipe down and be happy with 11th and crap football every week.

Just dealing in facts dave, you can't argue with them.

And the fact show that the aformentioned 5 managers are all more successful than Roberto Martinez.

I just can't understand why any Evertonian wouldn't want a successful manager like them at the club.
But you put up with a no mark for 11 years.

Lol.

That's just a long way of saying Martinez Out.

There's no justification for being implacably against a manager from the get go. None. Those people (yourself being one of them as I recall) forfeited the right to any claim they speak from a position of considered assessment. Others (much) later spooked by the team's alarming slide last year have earned that right, because they gave the manager a chance in the first place. That''s all that's being said.

Regardless of all that though, there should be no - or little - condemnation of our manager this season from any quarter, imo. We've come out the blocks and done very nicely so far. We win tomorrow we go 8th. Anyone who 's had their eyes open this past decade or so will know that for us that is a good position to be in at this stage of the season. And we've got a hell of a crack at reaching a SF of a cup competition to look forward to. All the while with key players out and blooding a backline that could be our future defence for years to come.

As long as we play proper football which means the GK playing short to the CB who with panics and in turn boots it up aimlessly under pressure, when the GK could have done it pressure free via a goal kick OR we play it short to a CB who ends up passing to someone who is immediately under pressure gives away a free kick and we then concede from said free kick.

Boss togger doh

Like I said we win a few games I shut up, simple I'm happy if Everton win regardless of who is managing, don't win I take issue. But you definitely need to Drop the 'if you never wanted Martinez your opinion doesn't count' attitude simply because is their no way in your mind that those who never wanted him were worried that the last 16 months would be the 'Norm' under him, or will you not acknowledge that?

You don't understand ? Really? Yes, barring a serious threat of relegation or a takeover he is going to be here for the long term. It is likely that he will have been here 5 years in total before the situation is looked at. But do you seriously expect nobody to voice their concerns about his selections and tactics when results aren't going well ? People aren't complaining in an effort to get him sacked - they are complaining because they want their team to be winning football matches.

We are not a religious cult. We are EFC and Everton managers always have and will continue to be held to account by the supporters. They will know all about it if the fans aren't happy, even when there is no immediate threat to a managers position. Moyes getting booed for making unnecessary defensive substitutions is an example of this - it didn't mean that his job was under threat.

The questioning of the manager will go on while we continue to ship goals, come out looking half-arsed about the game, and play slow pedestrian football. Some of his most ardent fanatics need to deal with that.

This.

No point in replying to him mate, he is worthless, no point in speaking to the monkey when the organ grinder is freely avaliable

Not sure about this bit mate.
