Roberto Martinez discussion

Where did we lose those points Kit? Bollicked it up against Arsenal, but even then a draw would have been a fair result. So he cost us 1 point there. Won us a point at Spurs. Breaks even by my calculation.

Those calculations don't appear to be accurate do they?

Your calculations seem to be based on the latest trend of blaming absolutely every goal we concede on Tim Howard. People using amazing mental gymnastics to convince themselves that Howard should have been 2 feet to the left, should have been at the far right hand top corner to save it, should have foreseen that Stones was going to completely make a meal of a basic pass etc. Literally every goal has been chalked up to Howard in some way by somebody. It's demented.

Guessing the Derby is one instance that he reckons Howard cost us points, disagree for ones who blame us dropping a point against City as we held out until Howard f'd up, but City would have ended up crafting a winner even without those mistakes

Can argue strongly that he should have stopped the goal in the Derby, one against west brom - which proved irrelevant to the result anyway, and both against Arsenal - so he has cost us points mate

End of the day no one knows what happens in any game if a goal doesn't happen that did, it's all pure speculation, what if he'd saved against Sunderlands 1st, do we go on to win 9-0, or do we see out a boring second half and win 2-0, or do Sunderland score late on twice in 5 mins and get a draw. All just pure speculation, all we can do is look at how many errors for goals he commits or goals he concedes that he should have done much better on and use are own judgement on if he is costing us points over a season

Well no. Two steps forward to collect/punch/clear the ball would have done the trick.

Seems like it's not just Martinez and some GOT posters who think we have some lessons to learn from our mistakes.

Gareth Barry's joined in now

Gareth Barry has warned Everton they cannot rely on goals to get them out of trouble following their crushing win over Sunderland on Sunday.

Everton cruised into a 2-0 lead at Goodison Park but Sam Allardyce's strugglers levelled before Arouna Kone completed his hat-trick to help secure a 6-2 victory.

Barry, however, has urged his team-mates not to forget about the defensive side of their game with Roberto Martinez's men having already conceded 15 in 11 games, the joint second-worst among the Premier League's top 14 sides.

"We are enjoying the win but the experienced players know on another day you want to be a lot tighter," said the midfielder.

"It is important we don't get away from the fact there is a lot of confidence from the attacking flavour but throughout the week we will be working on that attacking-defending balance, because we don't want to be giving away too many chances like that.

"Their first goal changed the game. If we are going in at half-time at 2-0 we are really comfortable and the confidence is different and their attitude to the second half is different. There are a lot of lessons to be learned as with 30 seconds to go we've got the ball in their half and all of a sudden it's in the back of our goal.

"We should be better than that and there is experience on the pitch to stop that happening. But fair play to the lads we bounced back from conceding the second and created a lot of chances."

******

Bloody plotters everywhere.

He also went on to praise Kone and Deulofeu, but that's not going to make anyone fume, so I'm glossing over that

hmmmm a "plotter" and a "usual suspect" comes to mind! How dare he look at the game as anything other than a bloody good 6-2 win which could potentially undermine any of the credit our Catalan overlord is taking for this glory moment in Ebepton's history.
