Roberto Martinez discussion

We done what we had to do today
We scored 4 goals and didn't even get out of second gear. We didn't push players to do to much knowing some have come back from intl duty no doubt jaded. We also took the right players off to protect them.
Overall a superb professions performance.

As for the unhappy ones, you will never be happy as you never wanted him and you don't have the guts to admit that we may be on the cusp of something special here

I'm trying. By god I am trying! But no matter how much I want to believe in him, how much I want him to succeed and how much I want to just feel naturally positive about the man, I just can't help but feel very worried and ultimately negative about the appointment of Roberto Martinez as manager of Everton Football Club. I know there's an obvious divide in Everton fans' views and opinions of this issue, but what about the man wearing the mask like me. The man who's putting a smile on and forcing himself to look and "feel" excited about Martinez, but deep down knows that something just doesn't fit. I know I'm not the only one wearing that mask of jubilance covering a face of concern, worry and gloominess. Having watched the full appointment of Martinez press conference on YouTube, I think it's blatantly obvious that Kenwright is wearing that mask too. Some say this is a time of promise and future glory, with the players we have, the football Martinez' teams play and the fact that we're taking on a manager who won what Moyesey never could (a trophy!), and I'm happy for those people. Others say this is a huge mistake, with a manager that's never progressed a bottom five team which was finishing higher in the league before he took over and now under his reign got relegated, and I'm happy for those people too. At least you openly know where you stand. But those of you wearing the mask of delight covering up a deep down despair, put your hand up and make yourself known, because I know there's more than just me and Blue Bill.
I'd rather play some decent footie and lose some games due to football mistakes and produce performances like the last two games against lesser teams, rather than be stuck in some sort of time warp where we are all work ethic and hustle and bustle with no discernible style of play, with young players not being given a chance and striving for 40 points at the start of the season and our season being built around being hard to be beaten at home to the top teams. Feck that!
I certainly think we are going in the right direction. Some players are developing very well. Sure, there are holes in the squad. There'll be bumps along the way. It wouldn't be Everton otherwise.
If that doesn't keep you interested, then maybe the club isn't for you.

Repent all ye plotters and subjugate yourselves to the might of the 'Brown Shoes'.

what do you think it could be that doesn't fit? I realise from your post you might not be able to put your finger on it, but what COULD it be do you think? can you try and specify?

The performances that Aston Villa and Sunderland put in allowed that to happen.
I don't think I've ever seen a worse team come to Goodison than Aston Villa.

Its a shame every team we beat by a goal or more is deemed crap or the worse team to visit Goodison....hell why can't we give any credit to the team that wins...you know...the one we support. We went out and did a professional job that very same job we struggled with last season.

He's an Idealistic dreamer. Yes we all know south pacific and having a dream, not to mention MLK

But (IMHO) He's just bang average...just another variation on a theme that results in the 7th-ish Trophy...Paella to Moyes's Haggis.

and the sad fact is, after yesterdays first half he will be all the more convinced that his pass, pass, pass Philosophy that has turned Goodison into a graveyard of 'meh silence' is the way to go.
What of Elan, Passion, Excitement, Intensity...you know all the stuff we used to see.

Yeah I know I'm a dinosaur living in a world that Alex Young and Alan Ball bestrode like a Colossi they were.

The Philosophy strong in me is not

You can only beat what is put out in front of you....and we did very easily
