Might it occur to you that that Del, Ross, Rom and company made them look that bad?

Are we such a Sad Sack bunch of fans that rather than believe we have a nascent Rolls Royce of a ream developing we would rather point to the deficiencies of the Lada in opposition colours?
I'm sure they did, but there is no denying we should be whacking the bottom 2 at home. When we have faced decent opposition this year, we have failed to win. Chelsea and Southampton aside who were both going through bad patches.

One would have thought GOT would have been a negativity free zone in the aftermath of yesterday's near perfect performance.

Why can't you just be happy instead of picking holes in the last two home wins and two splendid victories from earlier in the seaon?

How Everton is that :Blink:

This is a discussion about Martinez. The man is and still should be under scrutiny after last season's shambles. When we start producing these performances and get the results against top half clubs is when I'll believe he has turned the corner.

Fully expect us to be top 4 by Christmas. I'd be disappointed if we don't close the 6 point gap with the fixtures we've got. I'm expecting Leicester to drop out with their dreadful fixtures.

Demolishing 2 sides who've set out to park the bus against us shows signs of improvement from last season.

If we follow it up with a controlled away win and nullify a team who'll look to counter us in our next home game then I'll start getting optimistic.

All seems to be about that early goal. If we get one before the half hour mark we seem to be kicking on and winning comfortably, which is very pleasing.

If we are going to discuss Martinez then we have to look at the facts,
(1) super first season, no complaints;
(2) undone all the good work of first season with a shocker;

I, for one, believed he couldn't hack it at this point. I wanted him replaced.

During the transfer window we were linked with so many players it was difficult to understand what was happening, however he held on to Stones and brought in Deulofeu. Very good business, he also brought in Cleverley, not universally accepted but turning out to be a positive. He failed to bring in the play maker we all crave, he didn't take£8 mill for Naismith, negatives.
On balance we have come out of the transfer window stronger than we went in.

Current position,7th in the league, a point behind 5th. Who amongst us wouldn't have taken that with a third of the season gone given last year's inept performances. We are still in the league cup, FA Cup to come.

We have a few issues, coverage for Lukaku, we seem a bit over reliant on Deulofeu. Goal keeper.

When this season got underway I felt Martinez had earned a third season with the way he handled the transfer window, he showed some balls.

We are a team moving forward, we are improving our squad and we have a crop of young players who look like they we develop on.

On balance Martinez is a definitely on the plus side.

He now needs to keep this going, win a cup, hang on to all our players, bring in a couple more to improve further. Not too much to ask for.

Repent all ye plotters and subjugate yourselves to the might of the 'Brown Shoes'.

Ha Ha Ha.

@Seamus Colemole

I can fully understand criticism of Martinez after a poor performance or after a bad spell of form or whatever.

But some of the negativity after winning our last 2 games with an aggregate score of 10-2 and completely tearing Villa a new one yesterday without getting out of 2nd gear is quite baffling to me.

3 of our goals started with our centre half striding out with the ball and then 3/4 passes later the ball is in the net. How can you not be excited by that?

'Oh it was only Villa, they're terrible'. We made them look terrible. How many points did we drop at home last season against 'poor' teams? We were beaten by Sunderland last season because we didn't know how to break down a team which sat back and looked to hit us on the break. We're playing boss, scoring for fun and I'm loving it. Enjoy it ffs.
