Roberto Martinez discussion

Anyone saying Spurs could have been out of sight in the first half is being ridiculous. We didn't dominate, so what. That's what happens in football, you dig in and stay in the game. That's exactly what we did and I'm made up it happened because it's something this team need to do more often.

For all their domination their best chances apart from the goal came from two speculative efforts, they weren't cutting us open whatsoever.

The League Cup is a must win. As well as the FA Cup. I'd rather we win two trophies and finish top half rather than one trophy and top 7.

I never like it when people go boom or bust on trophies. There's still 3 other teams left in the League Cup and if we're being honest they could probably all say they've got more chance of winning it than us given the season so far. The FA Cup is a complete lottery as well.

It's likely that we will win neither which is why league placing is so important.

Aye fair points as usual mate. Mirallas has disappointed me as he's never really played well enough when given a chance this season to stake a claim and instead we read comments about him maybe having to move on. With the talent he has he should get his head down and make himself one of the first picks but seldom does that.

Surprised we haven't seen Galloway at left back and Baines at left mid so far. Maybe that's me being a bit FIFA though and it wouldn't work for loads of reasons.

I thought Mirallas was sound against Newcastle and offered us natural balance ( hence why I never thought we got bummed down that side as usual but the other side ) but your idea of Galloway and Baines isn't far fetched at all mate and I would take that all day long just to get the balance right plus it would help Galloway. If Oviedo was fit he would also be perfect to play either role with them.

Happy with him today. Took a chance with the team selection and it didn't really work, so he clearly gave them a kick up the arse at half time and then made changes early in the second half that swung the momentum largely in our favour which saw us get a deserved point. Good management.

Most pleasing was the fact that we've clearly been working on keeping it tight at the back and only conceded the one goal, which was a pretty decent one, to be fair. Much better today, but we desperately need Jagielka back.

End result: a solid point against a really good Spurs side that pressed us extremely well, that lets us put Stoke and conceding 4 at home well behind us.

No way, lad...Bozo the Catalonian just has a hardon for him.

I mean, it's not like he's putting flashy players on the pitch in crucial spots...it's a conspiracy and Kev is the victim.

It was weird today because Spurs were more Everton than Everton if that makes sense.

Control for the most part of the game but end up hanging on for less than three points.

Everybody is getting onto Robertos flaws pundits now saying this squad should be higher then it is and Martinez needs to address the defence. So there's something not write and people can see it now.....

Yeah its great holding out for a home draw.
1 win in 8 with this squad happy days eh

But they weren't out of sight and had to rely on a goal just on half time to even be level?

It's great you can see it but he can't.
Stop defending him, wipe the crap out your eyes.

We scored totally against the run of play, we had a bit of luck for a change, they hit the woodwork twice and we were overrun all over the midfield and flanks.

Bad team selection and bad tactics, that's the first time we've sat back at Goodison this season, obvious tactic from Martinez to play like an away team, and it gave Spurs their best half of football they've played this season.

2nd half we played more our usual game and were the better side creating the better chances, Martinez made a balls of it and rescued it 2nd half, only luck stopped us from defeat in that first half.
