Roberto Martinez discussion

Anybody who has the skysports app should look at a article on everton, showing the stats for us this season, attacking stats are good but we are absoloute dog turd defensively. Under Martinez I never fancy us to get a clean sheet - under moyes we could grind results 1-0 when it mattered.

Our solid home form under moyes has just been thrown in the bin, Im struggling to watch Everton over the last few months in the league because I - and many others can predict the team, the style of play, which poor player is going to score against us to end their drought, how long until barry gets booked and also predict the away team will make the first change to win the game. Growing up I always thought that the home team should always make the first move. Im not even sure bobby uses three subs anymore ?

He needs to change it and fast as I can now see more and more people losing patience.

Looking at these stats it's crazy to see how bad we have become at defending. He needs to get someone in to help coach that side of things, because he hasn't got a clue.
The notion that having a team that entertains (and the rest of the country labels as The Entertainers, in respect of that) is a problem is off the charts mad.

Basically, "the experts" like Sourness and Carragher are saying: 'yes, it's great to play attacking attractive football...but dont do it anymore...commit less to attack...boot the ball downfield and hope it doesn't come back...know your place and start playing like West Brom".

We need that advice like we need two Kopites telling us what's best for us....hold on.....

That Sky Sports atrocity:

"The worry for supporters is that there's no great belief that their coach will be saying any such thing [about getting the ball downfield quickly] and Everton will continue to entertain."

lollollol

The worry is that we'll continue to see an Everton manager trying to entertain football fans.

I think that just about sums the whole madhouse up perfectly. "Stop entertaining...it's a major worry for everyone....just stop entertaining FFS. The stats from our clever stats people tell us you need to be drab...it's not right to make football entertaining....the stats say so".

Has there ever been a more embarrassing, knuckledragging evaluation of a football team ever?

To be fair mate, the whole exciting football thing is a little OTT. I find watching Everton can be hard work and dare I say it - boring. All great for the neutral seeing Everton concede and score most games but as a fan of the club its hard graft at times.

Under Moyes we could grind out 1-0 wins when it mattered?
Apart from the cup final in 09, and the semi in 12. I'm
Starting to lose faith in Martinez, but Moyes is a Dinosaur manager and don't want him anywhere near my club

Don't know where this good cup manager came from and I certainly don't understand how we could fluke a cup. You need to put your hatred to one side and try to see through your green mist and concentrate on backing the team and manager a little bit better than bitter.

Ha ha that old yarn, i don't back the team because I'm critical of a managers underperformance after two and a half seasons ha ha. Last time I checked I still pay an exorbitant amount to support them home and away, but yeah expressing anything other than a blindly positive opinion on an Internet forum is not backing the team, sure.

There is a prevailing school of thought on here that Martinez's league form is excused because he represents a great chance of us winning a trophy because of what he did at Wigan. I don't see how any of that makes us more likely to prevail over 2 legs v City. Unless we turn out our best two performances of the season we are probably not getting through so we will need a massive improvement. That is the reality not being negative.

How is it boring? Boring seeing your own team play one touch football going forward and dominate the proceedings?

I think boring is the last word I'd use to describe this Everton team.

I don't think Moyes or anybody else for that matter could control Drenthe's actions in the run up to that Semi Final - he let us down big time, same applies for the Distin error, we were well in control up until that point, its just one of them things for me, nobody could influence that mistake.

The cup final in 09 was a tough one to take, again could you blame moyes for Arteta, Jagielka and I think Yakubu being injured ? That was the spine of our team really, again lady luck wasn't on our side, I do think he lost it by playing Osman and Hibbert but I wouldn't like to throw away ten years of steady improvement based on one final and a lot of luck.

Jesus Christ Dave my friend, do you not see the slow passing around the back line ? Do you not see Baines on his own down the left with no support ? Did you not witness yesterday the lack of bodies driving into the box ? We are really banking on Lukaku banging the goals in and hoping the away team comes at us so we have space to attack - even then inviting the pressure is a gamble given we cant keep a clean sheet.

Martinez gets a lot of plaudits from the outside but anybody watching us week in week out will understand the fans frustrations.

No mate I understand people being critical but you don't say anything at all that is positive. It comes across as pure hatred....nothing he does is right....kind of thing. I also don't think people are being blindly positive as there would be no point in that but the so called Martinez lovers are only looking at a bigger picture but I must point out that they are not over the moon with the results thus far. You just have to put your blindly negative opinion to one side every now and then and give us all a rest.
