Roberto Martinez discussion

I don't think Moyes or anybody else for that matter could control Drenthe's actions in the run up to that Semi Final - he let us down big time, same applies for the Distin error, we were well in control up until that point, its just one of them things for me, nobody could influence that mistake.

The cup final in 09 was a tough one to take, again could you blame moyes for Arteta, Jagielka and I think Yakubu being injured ? That was the spine of our team really, again lady luck wasn't on our side, I do think he lost it by playing Osman and Hibbert but I wouldn't like to throw away ten years of steady improvement based on one final and a lot of luck.
Wow anymore excuses for Moyes's failings.
So who's fault was it that we didn't win away at any of the top 4 in his 11yrs. That Liverpool team was shocking in 2012 and his negative style cost us, if he gets lucky enough to get another top job in England he will last 5minutes

Jesus Christ Dave my friend, do you not see the slow passing around the back line ? Do you not see Baines on his own down the left with no support ? Did you not witness yesterday the lack of bodies driving into the box ? We are really banking on Lukaku banging the goals in and hoping the away team comes at us so we have space to attack - even then inviting the pressure is a gamble given we cant keep a clean sheet.

Martinez gets a lot of plaudits from the outside but anybody watching us week in week out will understand the fans frustrations.

Come on man, the Match of the Day highlights are only about five minutes long, how is he supposed to see all that???

Comparing Moyes and Brown shoes is a complete waste of time - they both have major flaws.

I said this in another thread but maybe clubs need to think about looking at the possibility of revamping the coaching situation. Is it time that clubs acknowledge that a one manager approach cannot cover all the bases and we need to move towards a double headed coaching role. If we can have two coaches with clearly defined roles but working together to compliment each other to cover off each others weakness. The EPL TEAMS can afford it and we have so many good mangers thrown onto the scrap heap due to the clubs getting rid within 12 months.

I reckon most on here are tiring of them now. They've become a parody of themselves and have worn down the patience of even those who are unsure in their attitude toward the manager.

They're a laughing stock.
It is the age old comment
Certain people don't like RM so unless he wins silverware he will never be accepted.
Also this comment of this great squad we have is starting to tire, we have a good youthful. Squad with potential. If you look at Spurs they have a squad that could go on to challenging for the Prem and minimum CL, we maybe there in 18mths but not ready yet.
I despair at how negative some people are, it is embarrassing at times

Lets be honest its not just moyes that had a mental block with the top four, I think many fans of many clubs feel that they will never come away with a point when going to the top four. I think players of many clubs are also beaten mentally by the press saying its good going to get away with a point, there was a aura around places like old Trafford and Anfield were you would lose half the fight mentally before walking into the stadium. I also include the referees in this bracket too - hence the saying you never get anything at old Trafford. Im really happy with the stability and steady progress moyes made at everton over the years although the top four record was so frustrating, im still no more confident in Martinez getting more than say 5 wins away in his tenure at the top four than I was moyes.

No mate I understand people being critical but you don't say anything at all that is positive. It comes across as pure hatred....nothing he does is right....kind of thing. I also don't think people are being blindly positive as there would be no point in that but the so called Martinez lovers are only looking at a bigger picture but I must point out that they are not over the moon with the results thus far. You just have to put your blindly negative opinion to one side every now and then and give us all a rest.

What you are perceiving as blindly negative is often just realism in opposition to ridiculous rampant gushing over Martinez. Facts such as the league table, defensive record etc. are cast aside for opinions such as 'we are the out and out best football team in the league and everybody can see it'. When you bring up that we're 11th people don't like it and call it negative.

What you don't like is the current reality that the facts don't currently fit your misty eyed view on Martinez. If we were 4th id be saying look at the league table. When we're 11th I'm saying look at the league table. Sadly not many want to in the second scenario.

I loved the Moyes - Irvine duo, don't think moyes was the same after he left for preston.

But you dont want Everton to try and dominate, you want a defensive display with the ball out of Everton's possession.

I don't. I want Everton to play on the front foot especially at home in a manner that wins lots of games.

Defensive display without the ball? Sounds like what 'the entertainers' did v Spurs.

Can't be bothered with you mate. You make me feel down. I know its winter but a little ray of sunshine might make you less anxious. Time and patience mean nothing to you as its the now or never you look at. I see something happening long term you see nothing happening short term hence the anx. We are not Moores millionaires anymore so we can only hope for success rather than expect it.

And yet you admit you would rather see us draw nicely instead of winning.
What a disgrace you are
