Roberto Martinez discussion

This is his 3rd season and we are sliding down the league with 1 win in 8 games with this squad.
We play some nice football in parts of a match and we play some dross.
He still cannot see why we are conceding and for some reason still picks flappy.
He will never be a top manager, maybe a good attacking coach in La Liga but as a premier league manager he is out of his depth

Your opinion not mine though.

They are a very good side no doubt, but I thought second half they looked tired and disorganised.
Takes allot to keep that tempo up for 90mins, but they have a good squad to try and keep it going.
Our squad does not compare to theirs....not yet

Spurs have a squad that was assembled at enormous expense - especially after the sale of Gareth Bale in 2013.

2009 Walker £9m for Walker and Naughton
2012 Lloris £6m
2012 Vertongen £12m
2013 Lamela £26m
2013 Eriksen £11m
2013 Chadli £7m
2014 Davies £10m
2014 Dier £4m
2015 Dele Alli £5m
2015 Son £22m
2015 Alderweireld £12m
2015 Trippier £4m
Academy
Kane
Carrol
Bentaleb

I don't think we could compete with that level of spending - unless, of course, we sold Lukaku, Stones, Barkley and Deulofeu.

That's fine though because at some indeterminable point in the future it will all come good. If you don't believe it and think our best players will leave this summer, then you're not patient. @Saint Domingo

If you truly believe that Stones, Lukaku and others with big aspirations will wait another 2.5 - 3 years for Martinez to finally 'get it' then you are not optimistic but more stupid. Romelu and Stones could easily pack their bags and be gone to Chelsea or Paris St Germain in a heartbeat. More money, more silverware, more ambition. Simple as that.

It really winds me up listening to the bigger picture stuff, I love the bigger picture if we are winning now or certaintly learning to mix it up, right now we are sliding to mid table with a team capable of so much more, so apologies if I find Martinez acting a catalan clown right now. If he has us around the top 6 and shows signs of progress then im all for it, mid table with football across the back four and barry until we go 1-0 down ? No thanks.

Thats correct we will struggle on with patience then come the summer are jewels will be gone, then we will start the cycle again.
5 years down the line we will be in the same position with flappy in goal and kone on the wing in the championship

That's life at Everton unfortunately. As long as there are bigger clubs than us (and there are quite a few) then that will always be the case. What do you want us to do about it besides spend an imaginary 150m and become one of the big boys.

You are spot on, but we could build a squad over time...but will need patience from our fanbase

So its now about spending money ? The point is that Martinez needs to get results to show the players were going in the right direction, not languishing in mid table playing football across the back line until we cock it up and go 1-0 down chasing the game.

I was being sarcastic, I fully agree with everything you've put.
