Roberto Martinez discussion

I think people don't half get carried away with the style of football we currently play. No doubt a part of that is down to the perceived negative style Moyes used.

Don't get me wrong, we must be every neutrals favourite team but that's because we are so ridiculously open. Every team could play like us, but they wouldn't dare because it's not conducive to winning football matches.

The problem is, I can see what he's doing with our club long term and I like it, I like it a lot.

But then you just can't win only 6 games with the squad we have, it's underachieving any way you look at it.

What's more, as we won't be finishing top 4 or even 6 now barring a massive upturn in form, I can't see Stones or Lukaku still being here next season. Then the rebuilding starts again, and will there be that belief among the players that they can achieve things here. Might have a cool £100m to spend mind.

It's mad that Moyes set up not to lose games yet found himself winning a hell of a lot more than Martinez does. Have you not seen this season? This team looks incapable of winning football matches against decent sides.

Its not mad.

You play % football and you will make it hard to concede and thus nicking a goal will often get you the 3 points. Theres a reason why managers like that use those tactics. Dont like them myself though.

Moyes had a long time at this club, I think more patience is needed with somebody trying to change the whole thing. We can see its working very well in many aspects. Not so much in others.

I still say those defensive stats posted are really not so damning as they are supposed to be. We are clearly better in attack and are trusting in youth with a long term plan and even in his worst season last season we still only conceded 5-10 more than some of Moyes recent seasons.

Too early to write of top 6.

Its about the attitude and putting in young talented players and giving them the confidence to want the ball and to show their stuff.

I think its great. I dont know if I ever been so wowed by an Everton team as I have under this manager in moments during games.

We all hope the results come and the keeper is changed in the summer, as I think you can tell how much youd love this team if they can just improve a little bit

Is much working though? Or is it just a bunch of good players naturally playing good football without much direction/tactical awareness from a manager who's not doing enough to win football matches.

We really aren't too far away from having a ridiculously good side, we boss most sides and score for fun, a few defensive tweaks mainly the keeper and we'll go far

And against some less than decent too. Norwich, bournemouth etc

pfff. thats conjecture judge. cant allow that

i am pretty sure danny that we have tactics and direction. we are not winning enough,, but also we are not losing very often. wouldnt you say that if that now changes, that we look more likely to start winning more than losing?

Right now we draw the majority of games, then lose and win the odd one. I can't say I'm convinced that we'll go on a good run of form because I really don't think there's much evidence over the past 18 months to suggest we will.

It would be fantastic if we win a cup now as I think it might help fasttrack the whole process, and obviously would just be boss, but I personally dont need it for me to keep patience with the manager and wait and see because I think really good things are coming with whats being done at club.

I think its only really Dave saying league doesnt matter and that its all about the cups.

Agree to an extent, I just think alot of fans last season sort of wrote off the league as we were humping the likes of wolfsburg 4-1 and believing (myself included) that we could go on and win it, then we got done by Kiev in that 2nd leg and reality for quite a few set in when the last 10 or so fixtures in the league felt boring as there was nothing to play for.

I wonder if the league cup final potential opponents is fate, like I said probably the 2 teams we would love to beat in a final would be Liverpool and ironically Stoke, both would win the fanbase over likewise a defeat to either for me would lose him support.

This is all assuming we turn up at the Ethiad and not like in Kiev!

Okay I've had enough to off this Martinez out crap after today game... Wake up, we just went to SB home of the champions were we lost every single time for the last 13 years(probably) and attually never looked like winning in all that time. We were robbed by added time and an offside. At the start of the season you all looked and went Etihad/SB be lucky to get 1 point off them let alone 2.

We all know that until Howard goes this team isn't going to climb the league, his fault for the 1st goal and he should have saved the 3rd.

We won't finish bottom half. Martinez will not be sacked

West Ham lost to Newcastle, we beat Newcastle, Palace got thumbed at City, we drew, we're going in the right direct we just don't have the luck at the moment.

Honestly you think the way fans are going on that we've been a top 4 team for the past 10 years

Finally stop with the Stones and Lukaku have gone, it's doing my head in. There still a lot of football to be played.

A draw against Spurs and City and the fume subsided. A disputed goal against Chelsea at their place that earned them a draw and the fume is back on.

Martinez is the man to take up forward with this type of football. We can create chances and score goals. Interesting that some are regurgitating the Martinez's 'Wigan record' so as to beat him with that stick.
