The higher up the table we finish, the more games we are likely to have won, ergo the happier I am.

The higher up the table we finish the more likely it is that we're in the hunt for something important and the season doesn't fizzle out in a load of dead rubbers, ergo the happier I am.

The higher up the league we finish the more likely we are to have a European adventure to look forward to the following year, ergo the happier I am.

The higher up the league we finish the more likely we are to attract better players and the more money we will have to pay them, ergo the happier I am.

Long story short, 6th is better than 11th.

...whilst the salivating dogs go unashamedly loopy for the love of their perfect master eh Dave.

He walks you SO well. Awwww, keep wagging that tail, Twinkles.
Eh?

Presenting a reasoned case for keeping a talented manager doesn't amount to being a poodle mate.

No Dave, there is quite a difference.

By definition it means we have won more games and as an Everton win brightens up my life for days afterwards then the more we win the merrier......even if it does mean finishing 6th instead of 11th ;)
More arsed about the cups, tbh.

I'd trade any three points in the league for a win in the round of a cup.

Reasoned?

'...little difference between 6th & 11th'

Nor between 4th from bottom and 7th I suppose also then eh...

K.

In fact let's just jib the league standings in general, may as well just concentrate on the cups per campaign now then, seein as, y'know, it doesn't really matter...

Have to say his transfer record has been pheomenal, mcgeady a cheap mistake I guess and Kone has been usefulish for 5 mill(unlucky with injury) every other buy has been top notch

Yip.....it's all good ;)

Let me put it this way.....we are five games away from winning the F.A. Cup.

Two games away from winning the League Cup.

Would you willingly trade the sacrifice of those twenty one points in order to win both those trophies in the belief that we would pick up the ten or eleven points still needed to stay clear of relegation?

If a genie popped out the bottle right now and offered me that choice I would take it all right :)

But I would hate to sacrifice all those league wins to wind up falling at the final hurdle

Sod that lying toad of a genie :whip:

So I am going to opt for what I opt for every time this particular hypothetical scenario is raised round these parts.

We march toward the sound of the cannon.

EFC aims to finish as high up the table as possible and has a go at winning a Cup....or two.

'We're not good enough to compete with the big boys in the league so let's not even bother with that, let's just focus on the cups, eh?'

I'm guessing @davek would be very happy if Roberto says that in the first presser of the next season.

How is 11th in a table of 20 not average?

We all agreed that Everton getting 6th/7th/8th was punching above our weight. Now it seems it's 'average'.

There's some massive shifting about of goalposts to suit here.
It is heartening to see that there are others on here that appreciate MOYES'S efforts (We all agreed that Everton getting 6th/7th/8th was punching above our weight. Now it seems it's 'average'.)
