Roberto Martinez discussion

I just worry about who would replace him.

If he went I would like Howe, on the up, young and ambitious and an Evertonian.

Hasn't really proved anything in the league though despite his success at Bournemouth.

Can't think of anyone else.

I don't see the progress though.
We cannot win and are 12th with this great squad.
We are going backwards

i see progress.

we currently cannot win and results/position wise its bad but we are clearly better and more confident than last season.

last season was dreadful the league. we aint getting the wins but christ we are so much better than last season.

its not good enough. clearly. but i still see enough to want him to get his contracted time and see where this goes.

it might help though that i am not even the slightest bit thinking of relegation or that this manager is going to damage our overall status as one of the top teams in the league. so i guess that allows me to have a lot of patience even in the mess of last season and the frustration of this season.

Our
I still see progress in amongst all this, I can see the future Bobby is trying to map out for us and I'm happy to wait until next season to bear the fruits of his labour. We just need to get behind him and look long term.[/QUOT

I genuinely admire your patience and vision. I'll need to see some progress and some sign that he can adjust. Thought we had turned a defensive corner, but that feels like yet another false dawn. The timing of the Besic injury was awful.

I've had it with him. The team are worse than the sum of their parts. He's built a team of great individuals and can't get them playing effectively together.

He's never built a defence and it's time for him to go.

Worst for me is that Gerard won't be here next year. Possibly others too. We've missed a real opportunity to break through.

We have got at least one more season of this, unfortunately. There's no way Kenwright is going to sack Martinez in the summer, and then go through the stress of recruiting another manager. Obviously this means we will regress even further by the time we replace Martinez with a new manager.

like i said. i look forward to watching us more than i have for years.

young talented players being given the chance to show their stuff and more often than not, they do.

youth teams seem to be doing well with a clear plan. im no expert but the youth team thread and loan thread has many experts in there who would say so.

there is progress in areas. quite clearly.

hopefully the results start coming too.
Its chiche to say but I'm sure Wigan fans enjoyed watching them play as well......

Playing devils advocate, is the difference this year simply Lukakus goalscoring form has lifted the rest of the attacking players confidence up massively, not anything to do with tactics or martinez, just a player hitting a new height ability wise and the squad being lifted due to that?

Brother said to me after the game 'where would we be this season without or with last seasons Lukaku' and it's a frightening thought really

Don't think it would make any difference to some on here mate , because a lot of lads have had it in for Martinez from day one.

That's a large part of the problem isn't it mate, too many angry types that didn't want him in the first place and then all crawl out of the woodwork at the first opportunity.

Some people would love to see is fail just to be able to shout at people on the Internet about how right they were. Sad really.

Its based on seeing the huge improvement in our general play and the young squad he is putting together. Replace Howard and get this squad to the end of the season and the experience will serve them well next season.

Can't be surprised by youngsters making naive mistakes, and I'm willing to give him more time.

i can understand why some people want him out.

but i think even in considering this it should be acknowledged that there are positives in how we play. And that we played most of the first half of the season with young inexperienced defenders and a defender just new to the league.

also we are Everton, we do Everton type things. Please allow for that also.

Right now I can actually see us doing a Villa. The big names will eventually go, if that money is squandered then all the ingredients are there for us to collapse.

We play some great stuff in parts but we just cannot win.
We stick to the same tactics game after game with the same results leaking goals.
He picks flappy each game which is beyond a joke now.
He has to go as soon as poss or he could do real damage to us as he did at wigan.

no.if you stop and think back to last season we were slow...sloppy ..no confidence. awful from back to front.

its clear the whole team is playing much better and also have shown plenty of cajones in getting themselves back into games.
