Roberto Martinez discussion

We do seem to be almost bipolar in our approach currently - manic if we win, depressive and catastrophic if we don't win, and this reflects in the opinion of the manager with a lot, it seems.

The knee jerking doesn't help to form a clear view immediately after a game, however I'm getting the feeling that the anti Martinez sentiment is growing slowly. Perhaps, with the knee jerking that football fans are prone to, will a good result in Wednesday swing current opinion the other way? Would it even dent the diminishing confidence of some?

Would signing a player (eg. Yarmolenko) make a difference to fan morale? Not sure myself.
Not much mania in evidence for a long time, aside for the semi 1st leg

To be honest even signing yarmolenko wouldn't help us out with what we are doing. We just need to stop being so soft defensively. We have got undeniably worse at defending in the last year. I really hope he can sort that part of our performance out because that's what the difference will be. Start keeping clean sheets and we will rocket up the league. If he doesn't do that, he will be gone by the end of the year, barring some serious luck in the cup.

We won't win the league cup though mate, we won't make the final.

I think that if we don't make that final, more of the fan base will turn on him

That being said, it wouldn't change anything

Again, we will NEVER sack him while this current board is in place

It won't happen. You can all vault me if you like, but I'm supremely confident that he's not getting sacked no matter what happens

Its been said by others on here that signing more offensive players isn't really the answer to the solution here.

Considering we have three of England's backline in the team we can't say they are the problem either in the grand scheme of things (considering how well they played together under moyes, swapping Coleman and stones tbere). We have a 20 goal a season striker up front so a goal scorer isn't the issue, and enough experience in midfield with barry.

Tbh its simply a case of what's to blame then? Personally I'm not knee jerking to losing tkday, just fed up. I backed Martinez at the start because it was a tough opening run, I backed him when our winnable games petered out because of bad luck. Now we have started our next run of games with a defeat at home, and considering we haven't really 'beaten a team' since November bar a last kick of the game, combining with last season its looking like there is only one place to aim the blame at.

I do almost feel bipolar watching this team. When it's good it's very good and we all wish that our team could be successful playing in that cavalier fashion, but it's a kick in the gentlemans area when we make so many bad decisions that inevitably get punished.
Compared to moyes era, when the style meant the highs never felt as high but the lows never took us to the depths of despair either
