Roberto Martinez discussion

RM states the players are underperforming at Goodison - can anyone show him footage of when the fans bought cushions to sit in the Grandstands to show their disapproval they hurled them at the players dugout as they were leaving the pitch that would have definitely happened yesterday on that pathetic performance, it was more than a few boos - That 1980's team that went on to glory were put through far worse that he is going on about-
he's the Manager sort it RM - we want the right team selections the right tactics to win games!!

He's a maladaptive gobshite imo. He thinks the Premier League will be forced to adapt to his mental style of football, and his absolute gobshite philosophies, well guess what Roberto, it's you who needs to adapt, and you will end up losing your job if you don't.

*That wins the PHRASE OF THE DAY rosette.

By a mile.

BOSS....and so fitting.

Well played.

Slight difference between "a cup and tenth" and "a cup and relegation".

People don't actually think we're getting relegated do they?
I don't think we'll go down this season. But it is now more of a possibility that Euopean Qualification via the league. If we start next season with Martinez still there, Howard in goal, Stones, Barkley and Lukaku all sold, that's a different matter.

Cup's are boss

Seeing as I can't even remember the last time we won one, I'd happily trade a mid table finish in order to get a day out at Wembley and see Everton win something

It would be a memory I could treasure for the rest of my life

I wouldn't remember 20 years down the line where we finished in the league, but I'd remember that feeling I had when we won the Cup

However if you look at it as the last 61 games compared to the 61 before that you see we have gone from 112 points to 76 points.

Our form has been awful for 18 months after a brilliant 18 months

Apart from a place in the League Cup semifinal.

What does your crystal ball hold for the next 18 months?

There is little that sits well with me going on at the moment, I read an interview with him this morning (from, I think, November) in which he says how the club will '...strengthen from window to window'. Have you noted lately how often the 'this squad is too big line' is being trundled out? That coupled with the '...I don't envisage any business this window' unsettles me somewhat.

There's been a lot said about the fans the last day or so. Personally I can't fault it mate, frankly I think he's had a good ride off us given it's, give or take, 18 months of this now. The atmos yesterday was tense with a big hint of realisation I felt, a kind of majority combination of '...I can't support this (him) any more'. And as for the piffle of 'it's unsettling for the players'. Well, really, and what? They're big boys and it SHOULD be unsettling for the players because they're clearly not getting the gee-up from the bench. Again, it's SWANSEA at home...

The next ten or so days are HUGE, on ALL fronts for the club. And genuinely (and without over-reaction) I honestly feel it's crucial we/he/us get a grip of it because the impact of a continuing downturn could be MASSIVE in relation to keeping hold of assets which, in turn, will be detrimental to any future sale of the club.

Just imagine - we go out the cups, the league form continues, there is no takeover/no signings in the window, the likes of LUKAKU/STONES/GERI/BARKLEY/COLEMAN get the itch/are the subject of bids...BARRY is knocking on, as is BAINES, there is literally no goalkeeping option available... really, what's the appeal then? Both potential new manager & sale wise? If we finish 14th, with a depleted, unhappy & grossly under achieving side and he starts on about it all being about the 'build' and looking toward NEXT season then, for me, he's truly off his cake...

Honestly, it makes me puke, I've mentioned numerous times on threads about conversations with WIGAN fans. Literally EVERYTHING they said would happen is happening...

And I truly wish it wasn't.

That said, you've gotta have hope eh...

Thing is though, it was worse last season. And that was at the first sign of problems with a new boss who had just delivered our best season in donkeys years.

We were crap last season, but if some of the fans are like that at the first sign of trouble under a new boss I think it´s fair game for criticism. I could understand it a bit more now, after half a season of glimpses of hope but no change in points or position, but they were at it last season to even worse levels.

It´s not just our problem though, I think football fans in general have way less patience now.

Does anyone know what sort of contact Roberto is on? I mean was he 'rewarded' with a new contract after his first season? So how long is left to run exactly?

Yup after his first season he was given a new 5 year contract, we are boss as a club for rewarding with long term deals whenever we can do!

Tim Howard etc

Whats the limit. 12th and the league cup? 15th and the FA cup? 18th and the FA cup?

You'd rather we slowly dropped down the league so you have a nice story to tell about winning a second rate cup. with that attitude in 20 years when we are looking up at the premier league the cup won't look so shiny

I remember when we finished 4th. I would remember our first Champions League season if we had the ambition to get there and not accept mid table finishes and some shiny metal.
