Roberto Martinez discussion

Spot on. All this "players only come here because of Martinez" is nonsense. The attraction is a big club, solid support, at or around top six for more than a decade with potential to develop.
All this means far more than a manager with a philosophy that is not producing results.

So those players who became boss for us, Pienaar, Arteta, Baines etc, they only came because they were coming to 'Everton' not because of Moyes?

Some interesting names being bandied around should BOBSY be binned (he won't be mind).

And some interesting reasons WHY some of these names shouldn't be considered as they'd be deemed 'a gamble'...

With that in mind perhaps it should be considered that we appointed a manager with (CUP win aside) a pretty mediocre record, with a reputation formed solely on attack & concession, and who'd just relegated his side and felt he wasn't capable of bringing that same side back up.

Now THAT's a gamble.

It is down to the status of this football club. Would Martinez be able to attract Rom if he manages Wigan even he has the money? We all know the answer is no.

Stones chose Everton over Wigan. Most players will look at the size of the club over the manager except in a few rare occurrences (like Cabaye to Palace). That's why you still get decent players willing to go to the likes of Newcastle and Villa even when they've had clowns as managers. People can poo on Everton all they want but almost any player outside of the European regulars in England and the continent would sit up and take note if Everton were interested.

The way some people go on you would think no other manager in Europe can play attacking football, attract decent players, or even keep us in the league. The whole debate has been turned into 'it's Pulis or Martinez'. Plenty of very good managers out there that we could easily attract if the board showed one ounce of ambition and looked outside of NW championship clubs.

Probably. Arteta had been st Sociedad and Rangers, why would he even have known David Moyes? He got offered first team football for a large premier league side which was better than anything else he had at that point in time. The league, the club, then the manager in that order for foreign players I believe.

Hold up. People serious about Jose Mourinho here or on the wind up?

Mate you never get if you don't ask, Mourinho right this moment in time is damaged goods and has burnt his bridges with most of the top teams in Europe in one way or the other

United - the board namely Charlton and a few others are dead against having him their.
City - are going to get Guardiola
Chelsea - buff said
Arsenal - Have Wenger and no chance they would ever appoint Mourinho.
PSG - Maybe the only top tea,m that will plump for him
Barca - Ex Madrid manager - no chance
Madrid - left on very bad terms
Athletico - same as Barca - won't touch a ex Madrid manager
Bayern - No chance on earth
Dortmund - Have Tuschel and set to be their a whilst
Liverpool - Have Klopp
Spurs - Have Poccetini (spelling)
Inter - Have Mancini and he burnt bridges their
AC - ex Inter manager so no go their
Juve - Have Allegri

So your left with the second tier of clubs, most of whom are set with a manager already and of which we would probably have as much pull as most of those

We do have the advantage of having gone so long since anything that the bar to succeed now is pretty low, we have a great set of players, we set our bar far too low as fans at times and then wonder why we get called plucky underdogs and punching above our weight constantly, its because we label ourselves as small time constantly

I can't tell if your serious or this is a very clever and detailed wind up.
