The tide is too far gone against him now. Every time an opposition team score against us, especially at Goodison, the atmosphere will be poisonous.

Howard gave Chelski the first goal, went down far too early for the deflection(as usual) and allowed a weak backheel to beat him, having failed to boss the six yaerd box(as usual).

I wonder if RM goes ( and I still hope he stays ) if Mourinho would be inclined to give it a go. If he knew he had Lukaku, barkley, Del Boy and maybe Stones too signed onto long contracts plus the remote chance of new owners that all might sway him.

One thing for sure Howard would have been dropped years ago had he been the boss. He does not tolerate crap goalies.

I'm not disputing that at all Kiwi. But people haven't been using that as an example. The person I quoted was talking about City and Chelsea, while @Carlito seems to be furious that Martinez, given the understandable criticism he gets, was proud that we kept a clean sheet away in the league against City - a team who had not failed to score in a home game (and it may even be home or away, I'm not sure) since January 2015...

I think it's impossible not to easily grasp the point I was making, so I'll just leave you to it now.

I've never seen him play a true back three.

He's had Barry slot in, yes, but I'm very sure he's never played three centre backs.

As @Stanley Parker said, he did it in the derby. I think that was just a panicked reaction to Brenny doing it, though. He must have been worried that people would think he wasn't the manager with the most Barcelona VHS tapes on Merseyside.

Who do you think Martinez would most likely manage next if he was to leave? I can't see a team lower half of the prem table or upper half of the Championship wanting him as he doesn't guarantee anything. Its a strange one.

More likely he would go abroad to a mid table side in Spain, Germany or Italy

He did say that but not in the usual way of spouting crap. He a basically meant we haven't competed for the title or won any trophies the past 5 years so we can't be under achieving as no bar has been set.

He then did go on and chat absolute guff for the following 10 minutes though but that's our Bobbys pressers

Those words came out of his mouth, i didn't catch the rest because i was distracted - but another poster said he basically said its because no bar has been set so there is no under achieving, and because we haven't won a trophy.
