The rubbish that he spouts is worse than the crap Rodgers spoke but he gets away with it because the Spanish accent sounds better than the norn iron accent.

Err, no. Rogers was a lot worse than Martinez. At least Martinez didn't make up positions on the pitch like 'inverted winger'. Rogers is also a horrid person since his time at liverpool, it's been well documented. However, i admit, 'isometric shapes' was a classic from Roberto...

McCarthy has been injured for two months. While he's been out we've won one league game. Suggests to me that he's a pretty good player, and he's been helped in becoming that by his six years (?) under Martinez...

I agree with you on McCarthy as regards his importance to Everton. We miss him badly when he is not fit.

However, I think most Irish fans also feel he has got more in him that could elevate him to even higher quality if he was coached properly.

I agree with you on McCarthy as regards his importance to Everton. We miss him badly when he is not fit.

Hmm, he does, definitely. But I don't think you can pin that entirely on Martinez either. Whenever I've seen him play for Ireland, he is utilised as a box-to-box player mainly. His best game has come as a defensive mid (vs Germany, I believe?), the position he usually plays under Martinez.

True. Think he has it in his locker though, but don't think that's something that can be coached. It's down to instinct and confidence to get forward.

Okay mate. I heard boos and jeers, like I said. IIRC, it was for an attack from Swansea that we didn't appear to be closing down quickly enough... we regained it, fired it into Rom who did a lovely flick to Besic who then hit the post. Anyway, let's leave it there then.

I'm a big fan but I don't see it as the strongest part of his game. Not vital in the role he's deployed in though too as you correctly highlight.

In-correct. He gets forward a lot. Bournemouth he got forward loads and missed a really good chance at 2-0. Stoke he got forward to the edge of their box and assisted Rom (before going off injured). He also provided the assist for one of Kone's goals vs Sunderland.

He is instructed to get forward as much as possible in certain games/situations. Other times he sits back to defend.

Accepting 12th place going into February for EVERTON football club is gutless and unacceptable. They might disagree but you'd expect nothing less as they spend their lives trying to lower the club's stature by lowering expectations. Unfortunately they've largely suceeded. Any season where we aren't champions is ultimately failure. Obviously thats massively unrealistic and a long way off but that's the mentality we need and should at all times be working towards.

The board are content with mere survival. And martinez can't deliver on his talk.

I don't think it is. As I've said, external factors do their job on clear-cut decisions, we could be in 10th and potentially a cup final.

We're underachieving. I don't think it's massively unacceptable yet though. Still plenty of time to go.

Watch him, he's always aware of what's going on behind him, which is massively to his credit. Not many players who play(ed) in this role score many goals. When they do they are normally memorable - Carsley against the RS
