Roberto Martinez discussion

If Yarmolenko signed but took the rest of the season to adapt would your opinion change?

No i would be delighted if he signed ofc, but Martinez has lost me mate, hard to enjoy the good stuff when you know due to the manager we are fatally flawed no matter what a great set of players he can put together then he has zero ability to actually fuse them together in a team, great director of football or coach - as a manager he has now been shown up as being as useful as a boat with no hull

For crying out loud mate, look at our players, me and you could send them out there and they'd score goals. The art of management is getting those players to become tactically aware and winning games.

The way we play just looks like a collection of good players with absolutely no awareness whatsoever. It just beggars belief that people can still put a positive spin on 3 wins in 3 months with this team.

You were looking for positives, weren't you?

Good managers make the best of what they have. If you want to look for millions of excuses for Martinez you can convince yourself of anything. Every manager in the league is dealing with the same issues. Ranieri has had Vardy out for weeks, Pochettino now has Vertonghen out, Klopp is missing most of his strikers. Part of the job is adapting. Maryibez's problem though is that the team has to be 100% perfect to get good results, he always needs his first 11 all in form and confident otherwise he just washes his hands of any responsibility for the results.

Baines has been injured but he's had Oviedo, Galloway, and Garbutt to choose from. It was stupid to loan Garbutt out but that was his choice. He was given funds to buy Funes Mori to cover for Jags and he has done. Browning covered Coleman and Stones has moved over when necessary.

Under Moyes we sometimes had to play with Hibbert and Duffy at the back, I even remember them keeping a clean sheet in an away European game.

You have to adapt to win games, this current line pedalled to once again absolve Martinez of any blame is pathetically weak.

Vardy has played in every league game for Leicester!

Some people would have said that it was stupid to keep Baines, Oviedo, Garbutt Mori and Galloway at Goodison.

Another issue is the feeling that they'll simply get turfed out of the FA Cup by the first decent side they face, same as always.

I think it's great that you're finding plenty to get excited about, but I'm not sure why you seem so surprised by other people's waning interest in this manager.

I'm not getting excited about it mate, I'm simply trying to look at it from a different view point that's a bit less doom and gloom. I've also said many times that I understand why people have their concerns and understand a lot of them to an extent, I just don't agree with them.

Can't have it both ways here. People are arguing that Martinez has not been able to choose his own defenders, then also arguing that he's not had Moyes' back 4 to pick.

We have more than enough quality at the back even in the reserves to field a decent defence. Stop constantly looking for excuses.

I'm not. I'm just pointing out that Martinez hasn't been able to field those four players on the pitch at the same time since April last season, due to things outside of his control.

Not an excuse. It's a valid point.

I'm sure he missed a few or was carrying a niggle. As usual people descend into debating specifics. The general point is this, good managers don't let a few injuries derail their whole season, they find ways of winning. Martinez can't.

And Pellegrini has barely fielded Kompany and Arsenal have missed Welbeck, Wilshere, yet both sit up near the top of the league. Martinez has a highly talented squad, he is not getting the best out of it at all.

Fair play to Merson he is spot on. At least one person in the media has noticed how much we are under performing !

Plenty of them have been saying it for a while mate. But not because we didn't beat teams like Stoke/Swansea etc. No, apparently we're underperforming because we got knocked out of a semi-final by Man City and because we drew with Chelsea down to a dodgy ref decision...

Got no problem with people saying we are under-performing in games we should expect to win. It's when it's the other way round, and there's other mitigating factors that are referenced but then swiftly put under the rug, that it annoys me.

Liverpool, for example, have massively underperformed under Klopp considering the squad he has at his disposal. He's getting an incredibly easy ride because 'it's not his squad' - i'd suggest a top manager should be able to take over any squad and make it better.

There's no evidence whatsoever martinez will turn it around. He refuses to alter his system even though we will never master it. His opinion on defence is all too obvious and he is blind regarding goalkeeping.

I see nothing to suggest it gets even slightly better, let alone the vast improvement we need.
