Anyone who thinks we are ever gonna challenge for top 4 under a manager who only gives a [Poor language removed] about counter attacking wingplay is a total imbecile, the total lack of any creativity in the central roles is facking terrible, it could of been adressed but it hasn't, today proved it for me today, what if Kev leaves we are going to be facked, wait till next year, every team in the league is going to know how to get a point against us

So we didn't challenge for the top four under this manager last season then?

Poorly Said.
Why do our fullbacks score goals? Because they overlap the wingers and get into the box. Is that not Wingplay? When Mirallas had around 10 goals and 10 assists last year, is that not wingplay? Is the Bainaar axis of evil not wingplay, or the 8 goals Coleman scored last season not wingplay?
Secondly, we've scored 1.9 goals per game in the league. That does not scream crap going forward. That screams good going forward, even if today it did not come off. Today was the first time we have failed to score in the league. The issue up until now has been the defence. This has been sorted. You can see this through how we have tightened up, and as such conceded 1 in the last four. Despite injuries to our key players at one time or another that have crippled our season, we are still 9th, 4 points behind 4th.

If Kev leaves then we will have money to replace him. But football does not deal in hypotheticals. It deals with the now, and the team that you can put out on the pitch. Missing a player that contributed so much with his quality last season obviously means that we won't be the same on the pitch. Likewise when you have multiple key players out or coming back to fitness, you won't be the same team. When we get closer to having key players back, we will see more of what we can do. But we are better going forward. We don't rely on those numerous free-kicks we scored last season. We've been creating and scoring more goals from open play. A goalless draw is nothing to be ashamed about against the leagues third best defence, which set up solely to frustrate us and get a draw. Frustrating perhaps given how we dominated possession and the game, but never shameful. Today is a misnomer, not a regular occurrence. Remember that when you call people who disagree with your opinion imbeciles.

We challenged for the Top Four last season because we were good enough to be there.
We play in Europe this season because we are good enough to be there.
We will compete for a Top Four place again because we are good enough to be in the mix for it.
This is the School of Science, we play beautiful football, and we are on our way back.

This.

We are in europe because of Bobby.
Rs are in cl cause of Suarez.
0-0 draw shouldnt rock any evertonians boat.

We have the europes most wanted young manager. Fact.

R M's biggest failure is not logging on here or Toffeeweb every week to see what he should be changing / who he should be buying / why he's failed so massively over eighteen months. You'd think that permanent net viewing would have been part of his contract.

Or ... just imagine a world in which the owner & Chief Exec said to him, "Look. You know the score. We have to employ a squad which is top heavy with payers who are getting past it and others who are just beginning to make a name for themselves: those are the kind of wages / transfer fees we can afford. We'd like more better players in their prime, but the books don't allow it. Do you think you can make progress with such a group?"

Over the very long term, he can but there will be blips along the way and a group of supporters who feel they & the club have somehow been betrayed because they set the targets and they therefore have the right to condemn.

Why not judge him by the targets he sets for himself and the squad?

Had to log in with a hangover to say this is a top post mate. Reasoned, balanced and talks sense. It's not about looking at one game it's about looking at the bigger picture and we are doing fine from where I'm standing ( well sitting )

I think he needs to be bolder with this Naismith/Barkley situation.

Playing our best Attacking Midfield on the wing to accommodate Naismith was the wrong decision.

If Naismith can't play anywhere else he needs to be benched for the better player

This is spot on. I'm giving roberto the benifit of doubt at the moment that due to mirallas injury and pienaar not being 100%, is the reason why he has not benched naismith.

I'm presuming he thinks ross or naismith out of posistion is a better option than Atsu or Osman. Oveido being missing is also another option missing for that left side.

We have enough games to rotate barkley and Naismith in the No.10 role. I think he needs to stick to that and use others on the left.

I'd rather see him give someone like Atsu a run out than try and shift players out of position.

If he doesn't trust him he shouldn't have signed him

Let's just dissect that comment. 'It's not about looking at one game'. Agreed. So let's look at the 14 games played so far. 4 wins. But you think 'we are doing fine'. I disagree.

10 games in, 4 points from 4th without even getting out of 2nd gear. That tells me that we are doing fine. We could be doing better but it's not exactly a disastrous start is it

This "imbecile" thinks we came very close to landing a top four place under that self same manager a mere six or seven months ago :p

And we ain't but a handful of points off've the pace at the moment.;)

Its not a great start, injuries and a lack of form from a few players here and there have set us back a little, I personally feel the CC* has made a few strange decisions with regards tactics and subs, but I put that down to trying to find something that works.

Its not the start any of us wanted, but we are knocking around the top places and a good run of form and we could be soon where we wanna be.

Did everyone enjoy tonight's match? Plenty more of these to come.

This post is ace.

This thread seems to appear every time we don't smash someone 9-0.

Only 3 nil tonight - not good enough.

Can we try and keep the knee jerking down a bit next time we hit some poor form please lids - we are on a decent run at the moment with players hitting form, coming back from injuries and with a winnable fixture list. Oh and we are pissing Europe.

The school of science you say?

We're certainly not there yet but it's not a bad start.

Is right Everton.
