Roberto Martinez discussion

Be sensible. Carlisle are in league 2, Bournemouth made 6 changes to a team that's 15th in the league. Hardly top quality opposition

And city are league challengers and competing in the champions league, definitely a fair bit better than us.

Discounting results because you class the opposition as inferior smacks of adjusting things to suit your argument to me mate

So you are comparing Everton vs Carlisle to Everton vs city. Get a grip.

And in fact as I said earlier I'm really only talking about the league as a consistent indicator of progress or lack of it and am more than happy to exclude the city sf

With the greatest respect to all and the value of freedom to post anything and everything (within reason)...

HOW IS THIS DEBATE STILL GOING ON?! THERE SURELY CAN'T BE ANY FUN IN REPEATING THE SAME THINGS OVER AND OVER?!?!?!

not that it's about me, but my opinion is that the enjoyment is being sucked out of this thread because of the repetition. We've not
played for days yet this is always at the top of the list with the same suspects on both sides going on and on with opinions they made in December.

Surely there are other things that can be discussed?!?!?!?!

Vent over. Apologies. I love a bit of GOT debate but this thread is now beyond tedious.

Indeed.

And Bournemouth. I'm not comparing anyway, I'm just saying that if people can discount victories against inferior sides then I don't see why we can't discount losses against superior sides

I didn't see when you mentioned league only form

I think this thread is skirting the fundamental issue : what are people's real feelings regarding Martinez and his continued tenure at Everton Football Club?

Methinks the vast majority applaud and want us to continue to play attacking, entertaining, possession-dominating football... with the caveat that El Bob is a little less rigid in some of his team selections, cuts out any form of favouritism in said team selections, pays a bit more attention to solidifying the defence... and stops talking in bubbles in most of his interviews.

If he can do all that, massively improve his win/loss/draw statistics and get us back up to where we all feel we belong, then he has a potential job for life.
The rest of this season and progress in the FA Cup will determine a lot.

I suspect most people recognise that the argument's been done to death and just swerve the thread on favour of less generic topics, but if folk want to keep on going round in circles then who are we to judge mate ?

As mods, we can try to stop other threads descending into general pro/anti Martinez debates, but it's natural that this one will attract strong opinions. The fact those opinions have been voiced many times before is just one of those things.

Not aimed at you, but if anyone's sick to death of this thread and doesn't want to either contribute to it, or read it, then shout out and we'll happily issue an appropriate thread ban.
