Roberto Martinez discussion

I like it when we're winning and everyone's fairly happy and some real humour can break out on this thread. Nothing worse than slugging it out on here when we've lost at home and pedantry on both sides is the order of the day.

Touched by the Gods?

Must be this lad

http://www.theoi.com/Titan/TitanEpimetheus.html

EPIMETHEUS was the Titan god of afterthought, the father of excuses. He and his brother Prometheus were given the task of populating the earth with animals and men. However, Epimetheus quickly exhausted the supply of gifts allotted for the task in the equipment of animals, leaving Prometheus' masterpiece, mankind, completely helpless. As a result the Titan brother was forced to steal fire from heaven to arm them. Zeus was angered by this theft and ordered the creation of Pandora, the first woman, as a means to deliver evil into the house of man. Despite the warnings of his brother, Epimetheus happily received her as his bride, but as soon as she arrived she lifted the lid of a jar entrusted her by the gods, releasing a plague of harmful daimones(spirits) to trouble mankind. Only Hope (Elpis) remained behind to succor the unfortunate race.

The really sad fact is that the Martinez has two great consistencies

  • Making up excuses for lame home defeats
  • Piping down his supporters after the brief flame of hope

It's just a great shame he has to achieve both at the expense of this wonderful club

Everything I've seen from RM on this he's said the home results haven't been good enough and we need to learn how to get past the fine margins (which is true, we never get battered - bar United on the day HK passed) to get the points.

We have much better players, so of course we are. But the results need to match that otherwise it's meaningless
People say things like this without seemingly any regard for the season it totality.

Results:

Played 36

Won 17
Drawn 11
Lost 8

We've won just under half our matches and lost, roughly, a fifth.

  • And possibly two semi finals in the same year, what a plum Bobby is.

what is #the? Not sure that one works tbh
It was trending on twitter a few times this season when the pundits were purring at some of our play and the likes of TalkSport and 5Liver were picking up on it.

We do have the ability to attract a lot of admirers for our open football. Maybe we could do with being less open at certain moments, but it is universally recognised that we have a very pleasing on the eye style of play.

That'd look ok if it was based on league games only. It'd probly have us around 5th perhaps with a chance of 4th.

Except it isn't.

No, it isn't.

It is, though, our season record...something conveniently forgotten by some.

Maybe we should just ignore all Everton results in the future if they're not in the sooper dooper "Barcalys Premier League"?
