Roberto Martinez discussion

Say we win the FA Cup, what would your view be then?

The league doesn't lie. Where you finish is where you belong.

It's constant "what if". Last year it was "what if" the Europa League, this season it was "what if" the league cup. He won the FA Cup with Wigan and took them down.

Villa beat Liverpool in the FA Cup semi final and got to the final with a much worse squad than ours. Look at them now, all that positivity last May was false optimism.

I don't believe he is capable of enabling us to defend in a way that would allow us to be consistent and challenge for the top 4 (like West Ham, who looked awful today are).

I don't think we'll go 100%. Or go 0% which was my other mentioned possible result.

We're not good enough right now and we need to get better.

All I'm saying is it's not too late if we do manage to suddenly remember how to defend.
That was said in November , December, January and now march mate.

Season's a complete shambles. Let's start preparing for the next one, now.

I think the fan's have a right to be upset and on the fence over Martinez, he isn't doing himself any favours. Nice bloke but thats about it. Hope he proves me wrong with an FA cup..

A cup win is great of course but the league form is another matter.

How does Martinez tell the team to see out a 2-0 win?

By tactics mate. There is no point in being 2 or even 3 goals up if you don't end up winning the game. Same as Bournemouth same as Chelsea same as stoke same as today.

There's a pattern see, why didn't we have 10 men behind the ball to see the result out in the last 15, that's what teams who win games do?

Man utd didnt used to do that nor has wenger at arsenal nor do barcelona.

Arent we trying to play like them and not like a chelsea mourinho type team or a wba?

thats how we play.

Hes already said lennon was shattered...

He has to manage situations, if Lennon is asked to attack at pace and to cover back it doesn't take a footballing genius to work out that he might fade towards the end games. A tactically astute manager would has a contingency plan for that. Putting on Niasse looked more like running out of ideas rather than a feasible Plan B.
Good managers are proactnve not reactive.

Its been fine last few games with 11 men.

it was also fine today with great tactics. I honestly cannot see how the manager can be blamed for individuals not doing their jobs today after the last few games....

If that was Shawcross today he would have stopped 2 goals. If Baines or Barkley took the pen wed likely have been 3-0 up with 10 men.

At 3-0 up with 10 men if we froze time then the same people on here would be awol....because we were winning....or complaininf about some nonsense.

As it is theyre on here slating the manager who got kost right today but was let down by his players making individual errors.

i bet hes going mental at them.
Organisationally at the back we are poor as all hell, quality in individuals has saved us from a lot more blunders than have already happened.

These mistakes happen EVERY GAME Zat, not just here today. That's what we're trying to tell you. Same defenders seemingly defend well enough for international sides, wonder why that is? Could it be that we don't work on either closing down, or actually defending? Because me and nearly everyone else here thinks so, as that's what the evidence presented on the pitch suggests.

If we have got money to spend in the summer and GENUINE ambition then our name priority must be to pay top dollar for a top manager and replace Martinez . This is our biggest summer in years in terms of us growing back into a force . I don't trust Martinez to be the man to be in charge of taking us forward .

Zat, his tactics were good, the besic sub was spot on. But the lennon sub opened us up completle. They murdered us down the flanks. Martinez basicly looked at west hams tactics then helped them.

At least you can all go to bed soon, I've got a whole day of fuming ahead of me.

Oh don't worry the fume will still be here in the morning!

It's a strange feeling. You wake up, not a care in the world, but then it hits you, you remember how much you were fuming from the day before lol

And then the next day's monday. Ah the cycle of everton and life haha....
