Roberto Martinez discussion

It was a bad substitution mate the total wrong player to come on,I know Lennon was nackered

Don't get me started on crosses,my pet hate

Thing is i think Martinez wants us playing like Barca/Arsenal type football and they dont shut up shop. They would bring on a forward to keep Wham from going all out attack on us....

So i see the logic...i think its clear. Not sure why people have issue with the tactics at all.

if were talking about Niasse. Then he was dire wasnt he? I wonder what Martinez was expecting as surely no one thinks he was going to perform that badly???

If he had done well then again no one would have doubted the sub. Because he was awful we have the excuses for him.

Im not going to lay into him as it makes sense to give him time (even till next season) but the fact is he was terrible and in no way could Martinez have expected that.....

Despite being new to the league, so have many others been and not been given so much time to come into the squad gradually....but he really was like Nyarko that game when the fan ran on the pitch.

So Dave Rm is building the team and we are progressing, to where I would ask? I do not know about organising defnces but it seems to me RM could not organise the proverbial in a brewery.

Terrible result and you posting West ham were push overs! Clearly Bilic did not agree with that.

I had said previously give RM until the end of the season, I retract that now. To me he is not the manager for Everton and I would be loathe to hand him a big transfer budget in the summer. With the players we have results should be a heck of a lot better it has to be down to the manager, our poor showing. If he had any sort of character he would resign now!

No no, this isn't about last season's "what ifs", because obviously that's in the past and the result won't change. The FA Cup is ahead of us.

I think I'm right in gathering you don't see an FA Cup win as a successful season? There's no right or wrong answer by the way, I was genuinely interested. I'm not 100% either way on it. It would be ace to win some silverware though.

It just seems there always a reason why we should give him more time. We are in the FA Cup quarter final. Great. But that's as far as it goes.

I think Villa should have asked serious questions after last years FA Cup final because they were heading for disaster.

I will be made up if we win the FA Cup. But I can't see him improving upon our weaknesses. If we win the cup, will we learn to defend next season, become consistent, have good home form, challenge for the top four? I don't think so. Obviously you see something in the team that makes you think he will address his frailties.

But saying "he might win the fa cup" doesn't cut the mustard for me.

It is just bloody weird. Like we were superb for 75 minutes. He tweeked when Kev went loco, was 100% right with Besic for Stones at HT, then committed one of the cardinal sins of football.

Up there with not making defensive subs when defending a corner.

Bringing on a second striker come winger when in front with 10 men.

Cant get me head round it.

I'm afraid you, me and dozens, possibly hundreds of other actually can get our head round it - he's too far up his own jacksy with his possession domination, attacking football mantra to realise that shutting up shop is permissible and acceptable.

In much the same way as Stonesy needs to realise and accept that Row Z is permissible and acceptable.

And Rom needs to re-evaluate the pathetic pen he took today. Blast the penalty, if the keeper gets in the way, hurt the ****.

He can put Baines or Osman there. They can defend and help out the flank than Naisse who turned out to be hopeless today.

Baines would have been ideal actually.

but its not how we play...were trying to emulate barca.

Rightly or wrongly thats the way he wants us to play. Id quite like to see us playing like barca when he makes some signings this summer.

If he fails after the summer then all bets are off but we will have a top 4 squad.

He tried to be clever, thinking that West Ham pushing forward would leave more holes at the back. But failed to notice we would be totally over run in midfield and they took advantage. I remember a certain Northern Irishman having the same ideas at Palace that probably cost him a title, and how we laughed

Hmmm......cos they don't work for us very often mate?

Just a thought like...

Come on now. Martinez signed Niasse and works with him day to day. I'm sure he knew exactly how he would perform, given he's only played 15 mins for us. Regarding your philosophy comment, what is his philosophy? Attack as best form of defending a lead, okay, bring a striker on. Then bring Barry on to defend a draw? It was astonishing.

If he thinks defending is not important then he is naive and has proved he never learn. We aren't Baca.

Results proved that.

Nearly every game a team loses can be blamed on the players, in the form of a mistake or switching off or not challenging for headers etc etc. If in isolation these things can be accepted but when the same things, like capitulation, happen so regularly as to be expected then the buck can only stop at one person. And he knew that taking the job. Not good enough.
