Roberto Martinez discussion

The first 75 mins were, as you say Toff, quite exhilarating.

Maybe we need flatten Goodison while the whole place is re-modelled and become the first ever team to play a full season 'on-the-road' - we'd win the lot and then return to our upgraded home as Champions !! :);)

Haha.

Maybe not quite as drastic.

As I've said I'm not turning on RM as I still want him in because for all his faults the positives are still there as well.

But there's only so much frustration anyone can take and if he doesn't sort it out defensively (as he looked to have been doing) from now until the end of the season (and even still it may then need to be done) then I do think the time is right to make a firm re-assessment and either back him and give him the first few months of next term to get off to a strong start, or twist in the summer.

I'm halfway up the fence but still on the Martinez side.

Really don't see that in the Swansea WBA or Leicester games. Conceding 4 v Stoke is not incredible regardless of what you do at the other end. The warning signs were there first day of the season v Watford.

To be honest, the signs were there in the Arsenal game last season.

Just been looking at other everton forums and i can't believe how many fans want martinez out there must be 98% of fans who want him gone.
Lets just hope the new owner does the right thing and gets shut.

Anyone thinking that the demons of last season wouldn't make their way into this season was ridiculous. Aside from Funes Mori as a first team player (Clev and Del being in and out), we're virtually playing the same group of players that finished 12th last season. Is it any surprise therefore that we're in that spot again?

Last season's poor form was blamed on europe and 2nd season syndrome maybe we could blame this season on 3rd season syndrome and not being in europe

i like him
Ok mate.

Again genuine question here, do you enjoy the team under performing so much (2 years now) knowing he is the reason for that? Replacing him, like bilic at west ham for example, or ranieri at leiscster, or hughes at stoke, could, and probably would lead to us winning more games and potentially challenging more than we are?

I mean, we are 5 points away from the last remaining relegation free team, and 11 off west ham now. a win saturday would have seen us 5 off west ham instead?

Just making general points there, nothing personal :)

This is the biggest problem, there is no learning from mistakes. Well maybe there is, but there is no action to stop the same mistakes happening again.

Teams know they can just defend 10 yards up the pitch and push our fullbacks back and allow us to play it around the back doing nothing at all. Teams know we struggle with crosses and early balls into the box because we don't recover properly when losing the ball. Teams know we get knackered after 75 minutes.

Everything that was shown as concerning during preseason last season just doesn't seem to have been addressed.

We stopped passing at around going now where about 6 months ago and we haven't done it all season.

There's a lot to criticise Martinez for but the tippy happy football has well gone, we look to get the ball forward quite quickly now and play a counter attacking game hence the drop in our possession stats.

The other concern i have about Martinez is that i can fully back a manager making mistakes and learning from them when they are young.

It is the fact that nearly every week there is another new mistake being made, and it comes back at some point to haunt us. How he can make so many mistakes and cost us so many points in the process is baffling, and there is no-one telling him otherwise it seems.

I've been havin' a goz at the bench on TV afterwards mate and more often than not there's only (out of the non-playing staff) FERGUSON & JIMMY the KIT look remotely peeved at times when results go against...
