liverpools new owners gave dalglish a full season with loads of money to spend, i think generally new owners give a manager time...be very interesting to see what happens close season
The crowds turned on him mate, can't see him surviving. A few more home defeats and he might not make it to May but I'd imagine nothing will happen till the close season.

In fairness though he was a legend at that club, Martinez does not have anything like that to fall back on.

Lets not kid ourselves, Martinez has a job that all but about 10-15 people in football would love to have. That's a large talent pool to choose from, and Everton should be aiming high in the next appointment.

Get him out now, put someone internal in charge like Unsworth or someone til the end of the season and have the new guy in place to be able to speak to Lukaku etc. before they go to the Euros and angle for their move. See if he can persuade them to stay.

I've said this loads of times, all the money is in the Premier League now. If you're not a manager of Barca, Real, Bayern or a top International side, it's more than likely you'll want to be where the money is. Everton need to get on the top manager train quickly before we get left behind.

people are fed up of his BS.

He can't back up all his talk with performances, and tbh most of the crowd are done with him anyway.

Would be best for all parties to have a fresh start IMO.

the change in ownership certainly makes any decision on martinez....different

It is a basic inability to defend and ultimately I thought he had shown he had it in him to change as proved by our defensive stats since the turn of the year.

Unfortunately I was proved wrong on Saturday.

The players must also take the blame. For all RM's faults, he isn't the one that instructs Mori to miss all three of his headers that lead to the West Ham goals, or Jags to get constantly caught under the ball etc, or Barkley's terrible attempt at a block.

The worry is that he genuinely saw sense in his second substitution, and there seems to be no indication that we ever practice defending crosses.

Jones, Lawrence and Martinez have to take the blame for that.

It was just a favourable run of fixtures which he also managed to mess up with losses to WBA and Swansea.

If Everton can't defend crosses, then why not stop them at the source? People thought it was Howard and that someone the size of Joel would come out and collect them. It's not the players. Joel suffered from exactly the same thing. If you let players at this level have time and space to pick out good balls they will punish you for it.

Everton don't close down the space or 'press enough as a team', and in fact our performances off the ball are a shambles. I personally think a lot of this is down to fitness as well as organisation, the players just don't seem able to last 90 mins at a decent work rate. Which raises questions about the training.

He's had his chance he needs to go now, and he can take Jones, Lawrence, Bergara and Evans with him.

the thing that has made me lose major respect to him, is how it's never possibly his fault. He won't be accountable for anything.
He did say at the end of the day, he is responsible for the results that the team gets and the buck for a lack of results stops with him. That's not a exact quote but to suggest he takes no responsibility for the team's results is simply erroneous.

He needs to win football games, simple as. We've seen plenty of good football being played, but we need results, and if we need to grind them out so be it. Balance is incredibly important to winning football games and he needs to get the balance right between positivity and pragmatism.
He has till the end of the season to change my mind but as things stand they simply are not good enough.

Deadman walking. Straw poll of the blues in my office this morning, out of roughly 8 virually all want him gone, maybe one sat on the fence. And most go the match, so doesn't bode well should Chelsea put us out the cup, which is likely. Other than the ridiculous subs the one thing that drives me mad and has for a few seasons is our full backs standing off during crossing situations. Go get a ball in the face, take a foul, just do f-in something!!!!!!

The big factor in our 'lack' of fitness seems to have been when the fitness coach (forget his name - the yank) left us a year or so ago.

Someone from The Guardian just tweeted this..
