Roberto Martinez discussion

Phil McNulty is finally copping on a bit judging by his Twitter account.

Hopefully others will follow and the pressure will build

I have to say @davek , as much as I still want Martinez to succeed he's making his position more and more precarious.

There were other contributing factors to the defeat on Saturday, of course, but his decision to substitute Niasse on for Lennon was a major one and the one that facilitated our collapse.

It's happened too many times (throwing away 2 goal leads) this season to be all down to hard luck.

He's piled the pressure on himself now - from the fans at least - and tbh if the results don't turn around at home there may well be change in the summer.

Two victories in the next two games are vital, tbh.

It was just a favourable run of fixtures which he also managed to mess up with losses to WBA and Swansea.

If Everton can't defend crosses, then why not stop them at the source? People thought it was Howard and that someone the size of Joel would come out and collect them. It's not the players. Joel suffered from exactly the same thing. If you let players at this level have time and space to pick out good balls they will punish you for it.

Everton don't close down the space or 'press enough as a team', and in fact our performances off the ball are a shambles. I personally think a lot of this is down to fitness as well as organisation, the players just don't seem able to last 90 mins at a decent work rate. Which raises questions about the training.

He's had his chance he needs to go now, and he can take Jones, Lawrence, Bergara and Evans with him.
Totally agree.

Even the idea that we'd improved is just a total fallacy, I pointed out at the time that teams seems to be able to just score as many as they need to against us. The fact we 'only' conceded 1 to West Brom and 2 to Swansea was simply because that's all they needed. As soon as a decent side was tasked with putting 3 past us they were able to do so, just like Chelsea and City did when they needed to. Our supposedly new improved defence has conceded 3 in a quarter of our games against top flight opposition since the turn of the year. The problems never went away, we simply played a run of games against teams who either aren't good enough to take advantage of it (Villa, Newcastle, Bournemouth), or didn't need to (West Brom, Swansea). Anyone who watched that Villa game last week must be aware that we could easily have conceded more than one in that, and if they'd taken one of their chances at 3-1 i really wouldn't have been confident of seeing it out. That's against the worst team i have ever seen in the premier league. But people try to tell me Martinez has raised expectations.

I've advocated giving him to the end of the season but saturday was the final straw for me. I know it won't happen, but i want him gone now. Get a caretaker in to try to get the fans back on side and proud of their team again, and start talking to some big names who might just be able to salvage the Everton careers of the finest talents we've had in a generation.

I'd never let Pulis anywhere near us though

Yet he has a better record? Amazing how blinkered some people are by what the media tell them.

I'm not saying for one moment I would have Pulis, but then again I wouldn't have had Ranieri either if you had asked me before the start of this season.

It's all pretty fine margins with managers.

Doesn't escape the fact though that Martinez is failing massively.
